Specific instructions not to take kids to the beach.
"Hey, let's take the kids to the beach!"

I always regarded Shyamalan as a Hitchcock-lite, but this seems to have some really poor decision making on the part of the characters.

That director lost me a long time ago. I consider his films to be a waste of time.

But, who knows? It might be worthwhile for others.

Some of his movies are very good EXCEPT for the dumb twist at the end.

I view his movies like long Twilight Zone episodes.

Yeah, Signs- that tore it for me. I place this guy in the same category as Michael Bay and McD or McQ or whatever idiotic name the guy who directed Charlie's Angels uses. They're hacks.

[rodney_dangerfield] tough crowd [/rodney_dangerfield]

I've seen several of these movies and not sure what exactly should I be looking at in these that I am not supposed to like?
Seriously, I am curious of the movie critics here that make him so objectionable.
Most curious is it the directing part, the writing or storyline ...what?

The Sixth Sense was good, other than that all of his movies that I have seen have been disappointing. I've been burned by him too many times to give him another chance.

I'm sure there was a reason they didn't just walk back up the path they came down, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is.

That's damn silly. You're asking us about a matter of taste. You want us to tell you what you should like or dislike? Cut it out. Find some other way to say whatever it is you want to say. Perhaps by being direct.

I enjoyed some of his earlier stuff but he pretty much lost me after I wasted my time watching The Happening.

Looking at the list that BigSwede posted it would seem that the smaller the budget he has, the better he does.

Only one on the list I've seen is The Visit (if it's the one with the two grandkids who think they are seeing there grandparents - but aren't).

It was strange but decent. Nothing great or that I would tell someone - you need to see this. But worth the time i spent watching it.

Split was pretty damned good. Glass was a horrible way to complete the trilogy, though. And, of course, we can't forget the unforgivable After Earth starring Will Smith and his son, Jayden.
