If you can get past your initial reaction it is actually quite funny. An australian coastal town where usually nothing happens, where the lesbian community is welcomed and influent suddenly there’s a murder. The Police is not up to the task of investigating and is overwhelmed and shocked. An outside murder detective is sent in to lead… It is funny, irreverent, completely unPC and there are moments where it looks just those comedies with Sandra Bullock and the Melissa McCarthy, briefly. This is much closer to british humor. Am halfway through it and enjoying it once i got past my first reaction. Hope you will give it a chance and enjoy it too. Not for everybody, certainly not. There’s “artsy” nudity, chicks are fugly fugly at best. Foul language, the people are eco-friendly, the works. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

Watched it earlier this year. Agree with your review, we (the gf and I, certainly not the "we" used by royalty) thought it was pretty funny when we got over the first few minutes. Near the end though, as often happens, I was screaming at the tv "SHHHOOOOOOT!!!". You'll know it when you get there.

***NOTICE - ZOMBIE THREAD RESURRECTION*** Season 2 is now out on Prime. Somehow we missed this “girl power” (lesbo power?) Tasmanian crime and culture series when it debuted back in 2023. We binge watched the entire 1st season last night and immediately picked up on the not so subtle underlying theme. I fully concur with 0-0’s assessment about the irreverent Brit style humor and overall review. I was almost ready to call it quits thinking it would be “preaching” about alternative lifestyles, but stuck it out once I realized it was more tongue-in-cheek absurd mockery than preachy. For some reason it reminded me of “Shaun of the Dead”. Can’t quite put my finger on “why”, maybe just the Brit humor and silliness of some of it. I particularly enjoyed the “Eddie” character. She struck me as a female comedically exaggerated version of the “Andy Sipowicz” character from NYPD Blue. My wife and I approached it the usual fashion when we watch murder mysteries, trying to guess who the villain is and adjusting our theory as the show progresses. Neither of us came close to figuring out the surprise ending/answer as to who was responsible and why they did it. And yes, I too was screaming ”Don’t get so close!” and ”Just shoot!”, but alas my TV is “one way” and they didn’t hear me… If you watched the womens prison series “Wentworth” you’ll recognize some of the actors. If you haven’t seen “Wentworth”, I would recommend that for a gritty women’s prison drama kinda-sorta-the same-but different than “Oz”. We are looking forward to season 2. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

I barely made it through S1E1. I was going to turn it off many times. I'm not even sure it's the same show being referred to in this thread. But it sounds like it matches the description. It gets better right? After the first episode or so? So far, not enjoying it at all.... "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Read my first line on the original post again and give it another shot. I really wasn’t sure at all but got past my first reaction. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

Initial reaction is first 10 minutes? First few episodes? I'll give it another shot - I already had removed it from the watch list. The detective - I can't believe she's on the force at all, regardless of grade, let alone a senior detective. She reeks of incompetence as a detective and as a person. Completely unwatchable. But I'll watch S1E2. One more episode for benefit of doubt. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." I found it somewhat interesting, watched 2 episodes and part of the 3rd. Just couldn't get past the "Eddie" character. Obnoxious bitch, no way that sort of behavior would be allowed in a police officer on a regular basis. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Okay, I tried watching another episode. I'm done. I can't stand that friggin detective. On to the next show. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

^^^^^^I’m holding my breath hoping you’ll suggest a good Korean romantic comedy. You seemed knowledgeable on the subject. Just finished Crash landing on you. Funny and enjoyable. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

Only saw 1.5 episodes. Just not my cup of tea. Look for a series called Black Snow. ****************************************************************************** Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet . . .

I haven't been watching Korean shows recently. Huge open ended question since I don't keep a log or keep track. And the streaming services don't seem to keep a history of watched titles. Just some titles that are top of mind: Fight My Way The Scent of a Woman Reply 1988 Hometown Cha Cha Cha Rooftop Prince Welcome to Waikiki Oh My Ghostess (the Korean version, not remakes from other countries) If you come across a title and want to get some thoughts before you invest time in it, ping me and I'll give you my opinion if I've seen it already. Thank you very very very much. Will start with your list. Was exposed to local soap operas during my childhood. My country had very good writers and a small exporting industry. Then came the over the top mexican and venezuelan dramas, followed by the turkish ones. Find koreans refreshing and original 0-0This message has been edited. Deadloch is hilarious. The root cause of the detective's over the top behavior is explained in a later episode. "You know, Scotland has its own martial arts. Yeah, it's called Fuck You. It's mostly just head butting and then kicking people when they're on the ground." - Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers in "So I Married an Axe Murderer")
