I didn't know his music until one spring break in the 1990s. As an underage kid, I walked the beach and strolled up to the deck at Club La Vela and John Anderson was playing. He was so good that I bought a cd. One of the greats.

Roughly 30 years ago, my wife bought us tickets to see John in Greenville, SC. This was within the first year we were dating. She knew the first name of my previous high school and college first love, so she apparently wanted to drive this song home since it was popular at the time. Silly me for not understanding at the time. I had taken her to see everything from AC/DC to Diamond Rio in that first year, but she footed the bill for John.
We eventually met in the middle.
ETA: Ironically, Wifey recently attended her family reunion which matches the last name of of the gal in John's song referenced above. In the earlier part of my life my heart lead me to the first name, while the later years align with my wife. Strange. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Cope,
