Enjoyed both. Mindless entertainment, lots of gunplay and explosions.

First i stumbled on Havoc. No brain cells were required to enjoy this one. All the gratuitious violence you can shake a stick at. To the point where it gets stupid funny, and way past that too.
If you need a better description you are nitpicking. Can’t spoil it, don’t even remember what it was all about.

The Rip wants to be a bit more serious. A couple of twists, good cops, bad copa. Two decent actors for lack of a better word. It’s also fine if you want to turn off your brain.

Think both are on Netflix and i got a relative’s subscription so the movies were well worth what i payed for them.

Havoc I have marked or flagged whatever the F it’s called on Netflix.

I liked the Rip. Usually when Ben/Matt do something it’s at least a decent watch. It was actually better than I expected.

I just sorta watched Havoc. It’s in the dictionary under hot fucking mess. Ridiculous levels of stupid gory gunplay. Body count has to be over a hundred.

Maybe I’m dumb but how does throwing a washing machine onto a cop car not kill the cop by blunt force trauma but by inhaling washing machine fumes?

The story line is bad, script bad, action stupid. Like every car chase is sped up to the point of Hot Wheels cars stupid.

Don’t waste your time on this one. The big names clearly were car shopping and needed a quick paycheck.

The Rip was good, kept you guessing and had a lot of tension the entire time.

Havoc is an assault on your senses, and not in a good way.

I really liked The Rip. The idea of the bulk of the movie taking place at one location and it still be suspenseful till the end impressed me. I know that no movie gets it right but I listened to Matt Damon and Ben Affleck describe some of their prep for the movie on Rogan and it seems like they made at least an attempt to be authentic.

I'm fascinated by movies like this that are more like stage dramas than films, really. The Rip is not in this class, but I think of films (based on plays) like 12 Angry Men, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Glengarry Glen Ross, and a recent one that is excellent is The Outfit.

Havoc. Turn3d it off when the semi truck was doing high speed 90 degree turns on city streets.

Johnny only got like 5 minutes into the film because that was the opening sequence. lol

You forgot the old trope of having the bad guy hanging off the open swinging rear door of the semi. Good times.

Olyphant, Tom Hardy, Forest Whitaker. Yikes. Times must be tough in Hollywood.

First 2/3rds of The Rip were pretty good and drew me in. I agree w/ others that the bulk of the film taking place in a house made it feel like a stage play.

Unfortunately, the 3rd act devolved into a Jerry Bruckheimer or Michael Bay film. It was formulaic and a letdown for me.

Matt Damon made some comments recently about how Netflix is ruining movies, b/c they want their films made for people w/ short attention spans, and they want scripts where the characters routinely repeat what's going on to remind viewers of the plot.

Just finished Havoc. I thought Peckinpah was dead??

Mindless shoot'em up. Reminded me of some movie I saw awhile back with like 4 factions fighting each other in a warehouse?
