Will Ferrell. Don't do it. That is all. My Christmas gift to you all -.---.----.. -.---.----.. -.---.----.. It seems to me that any law that is not enforced and can't be enforced weakens all other laws.

Is this another in the series with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, with Will Ferrell in a supporting role? Or is it a movie with Will Ferrell starring? If it's the former, I'll wait until it's available to stream. If it's the latter, I will never see it.

It's the latter. Ferrell is Holmes and that dude who co-starred in Step Brothers is Watson. That'd be a hard no. _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

I'm a Sherlock Holmes fan (see signature line below), but I'm not a purist about it. I saw the trailer and was on the fence about whether or not I'd see this one, but I think after reading this thread and other online reviews I'm going to skip it. FWIW, for a Sherlock Holmes comedy, there was a movie that I thought was pretty good. Can't remember the name, though. Ben Kingsley as Watson, who's the real brains behind the operation, but hires an actor, played by Michael Caine, to play the role of Sherlock. Basil Rathbone as Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Watson. There are no others. ********* "Some people are alive today because it's against the law to kill them".

The Michael Caine one was called Without a Clue. I think I have it on VHS at my parents' house. Not minority enough!

I'll recommend a Sherlock Holmes movie that I saw somewhat recently: Mr. Holmes (2015), starring Ian McKellen as a 93-year-old Holmes. He struggles to solve his last case while dealing with dementia. One little nod that I thought was cool was that in the film, Holmes goes to a theater to see an old movie made about one of his cases. The actor playing Sherlock in the film within the film is Nicholas Rowe, who played the young Sherlock Holmes in 1985's Young Sherlock Holmes. That was amusing.

His Royal Hiney![]() |
I'm not a Will Ferrell fan but I think this movie is pure slapstick comedy which I can appreciate. It's far from being a sexual innuendo fest, right? "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

That sounds like an very interesting twist and played by Gandalf, himself! thanks for the recommendation. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us.
