I read most of the Hugh Howey series. I hope they don’t fuck this up.

I really liked the books and watched the first two episodes yesterday. So far, I’m liking it. There are some changes, like the spiral staircase was much narrower in the books, but hopefully it doesn’t get screwed up too badly. I am looking forward to watching the rest.
I was pleasantly shocked in March when I saw the trailer for this pop up. I had no idea it was even in production. I first read and fell in love with ‘Wool’(the first book in this series) when it was just a stand alone short story (basically the full 1st episode) that Howey wrote in his down time at the counter while working in a book store. Amazon had just started its self publishing system for writers to get their stuff out without be tied to a major publishing company. It was such a hit people kept asking when the next chapter was coming, and after saying a thousand times “that’s the whole thing” he started to flush out the story to what became the three book series.
Studios have been trying to make it for ten years with Ridley Scott being attached at one point. I’d check in on his blog and twitter every once and while over the years to see where things were but hadn’t looked in a few years, so again it was a surprise when I find out, not only is it coming, but it is coming so soon. Either way part of what I loved was how he described things in the story, so when I saw the trailer, other than the width of the stairs p226 mentioned, everything looked exactly like I pictured reading it. The agriculture levels, the mechanical levels, the porters. I’m excited for the series and I thought the first 2 episodes so far have been great. When the opening credits began and I saw Graham Yost is the creator and show runner all fears were gone. This dude brought us Justified. I’m confident it’s in good hands.

My wife and I watched the first episode tonight. Not wanting to give anything away here. I barely recognized Will Patton. Pretty darn well acted and production values seem high enough. Intriguing premise. We will be moving to the second one.

I see it's on episode 6 now. How's it going so far? I've yet to watch it.

I'm watching Episode 3 and I'm wondering how the generator is working with the panels removed. I'd also assume that the steam required to turn the blades would escape into the room and everyone in there would die.

I really enjoyed the first season. So as someone who has read the books, about 4 episodes ago the way an episode ended, I thought we were about to see the following week what we saw in the finale, and that had me worried that there just wasn’t enough time to finish the first book. Well they answered that a few weeks ago publicly when Apple announced season 2 was greenlit and that the first season covers about 75% of the first book. Now they don’t mention whether season 2 will drag out that last 25% of the first book Wool or if it will be the rest of book one and some of book 2.
Either way I’m glad I read that so I wasn’t spending the last 3 episodes worrying they were force rushing to the end of the book where a lot of the big things happen. Great book, great show, they did great a job with it.
