My first thought was “Oh fuck me, not a Jaws remake?!?” But it was a preview for the original on IMAX like DanH said. I’m not sure I ever saw a Jaws preview in a theater back then, I was too young. I wish I had though. It was cool to see it now, but I knew every scene they used ie: you’re gonna need a bigger boat.

The Rebirth movie was meh. My 15yo son and his buddy enjoyed it, but it wasn’t original in anyway. Maybe as a parody of the other Jurassic movies and movies in general. The whole packing up the museum because people aren’t interested in dinosaurs anymore seems symbolic of movies in general. Unless it’s bigger and badder than the last one, people just aren’t interested. That seems to be the attitude of the movie makers.

I just made my 15yo son watch Better off Dead. I’m pretty sure he liked it because he watched the whole thing instead deciding to go to bed halfway through and saying we’ll finish it tomorrow. I’ll know for sure if tomorrow he says he wants his two dollars. I’ve seen it several times and I just caught somethings I hadn’t caught before like he goes through the car wash with the I want my two dollars kid clinging to the roof of the station wagon and the kid screams “Nooo! I can’t swim!”

Why does EVERY movie still these days all show the main characters standing with mouths agape, looking up at something? EVERY. ONE.

I think sadly the Jurassic series is always trying to recreate the wonder of the first movie brachiasaur scene which was iconic but they should look for new thrills.
