Get my pies outta the oven! |
It stinks that all the good ones from this era are starting to leave us but that is life I suppose. Musician Gary Wright dead at 80

I've lost count of them this year; Gary, Jimmy, Tina, Raquel, several more. Posted a Ronettes video yesterday on another thread, started me thinking about Ronnie. Only two IIRC were of a ripe old age. 78-80-82, that's not all that old.

A man's got to know his limitations |
Bummer, another great musician gone. I saw him three times back in the 70s. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock "If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." Clarence Worley

It sounds like he was one of those musicians much like Daniel Lanois who never really had a lot of big hits themselves but played on and with many other bands that were really big. I read that Gary Wright played all keyboard for George Harrison's All Things Must Pass album.

His diet consists of black coffee, and sarcasm. |
According to his Wikipedia entry, he had quite a large body of work. As someone who can't even think up the first word of a song, let alone play it on anything, I am very impressed, and a little envious. Have you ever thought of a song and had it get stuck in your head? This has from time to time.

Love is Alive is a fun song to play on the drums. Just played it two days ago. RIP Because son, it is what you are supposed to do.

RIP but oh how I hate Dreamweaver. Luckily he was much more than that over-played song.

I was commissioned in the fall of '75 and this song (and the album) were my constant companion in my stateroom aboard ship. Loved the Dreamweaver song! Dream Weaver Lyrics [Instrumental Intro] [Verse 1] I've just closed my eyes again Climbed aboard the Dream Weaver train Driver, take away my worries of today And leave tomorrow behind [Chorus] Ooh, Dream Weaver I believe you can get me through the night Ooh, Dream Weaver I believe we can reach the morning light [Verse 2] Fly me high through the starry skies Or maybe to an astral plane Cross the highways of fantasy Help me to forget today's pain [Chorus] Ooh, Dream Weaver I believe you can get me through the night Ooh, Dream Weaver I believe we can reach the morning light [Verse 3] Though the dawn may be coming soon There still may be some time Fly me away to the bright side of the moon And meet me on the other side [Chorus] Ooh, Dream Weaver I believe you can get me through the night Ooh, Dream Weaver I believe we can reach the morning light [Outro] Dream Weaver Dream Weaver [Instrumental Outro] Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club!
