Now showing on Netflix is this "provocative and controversial" documentary that purports to reveal how much personal data is collected and used in today's connected world.

I paused watching this last night at about halfway through (because I wanted to watch a baseball game). Most of the content I watched revolved around the now-defunct Cambridge Analytica and how that company used Facebook data to influence both the 2016 U. S. election and the Brexit movement in the U. K.

The movie seems to meander and plod at times. There isn't a lot of startling data presented, but there's "a pony in there, somewhere" if you're at all concerned about how much of your personal data is there for others to capitalize on.

Remember the saying? "If something is free, YOU are the product!"

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

Its on my watch list.
I'm afraid we're going to have a lot more of these type of documentaries and shows, 'discussing' data collection and attempting to point the finger at specific events as evidence or, the tipping-point. The general theme appears that Conservative and the like-minded aren't bright, easily swayed by propaganda with the use of buzzwords and 'false narratives'. Meanwhile, those of the liberal/global bent, are convinced that because their social-circles are highly educated and influential, such harvesting of data and 'weaponizing' of it, is useless against them as they're 'free-thinkers' ergo, they need to 'save' everyone, get people to wake-up and set the opinion climate through media & entertainment.
