When do you stop/leave a movie at the end? Login/Join

When I watch a movie, I always stay through the credits. There are reasons for this. The main one is that I consider this the cool-down process. It's where I mull over what I've seen. If I'm with people, I'll talk about it with them. And, I can sample what music they've chosen to play during the credits, and sometimes I get to catch a mid or end credit scene.

Plus, I consider the end credits to be part of the movie, and I really want to get the most of my money. It also gives the audience in a theater time to disperse and make it easier for me to leave.

I've seen people leave a movie like Jaws when the shark blows up—they don't even wait for Richard Dreyfuss to surface. That seems like a waste. If you leave 2004's Dawn of the Dead when the credits starts rolling, you get a happy ending. If you stay through the credits, you get a tragic ending.

Question:
How about you guys? When do usually stop or leave a movie?

Choices:
The conflict wraps/bad guy dies/mystery is solved/couple gets together, but before the epilogue.
The movie ends and the credits start to roll.
After the credits have finished rolling.
Other.

I cheat... I look up ahead of time if there's a post-credit scene. If so, I'll stay to the end.

If not, I usually leave as the credits start to roll. Unless there's an interesting/creative credit sequence, or the credit music is good.

Same here, but I'll also linger if it's really crowded & let the crowd smash their way out.

I look at the credits, mainly for details I am curious about. Soundtrack songs, film locations and if animals play a part, their information.

I always stay until the screen goes blank, with or without bonus endings. I try to find easter eggs in the end credits.

Those people most likely were not watching it the first time. As soon as the final "big" scene is played, they split to avoid the rush.

All of the above.

Depends on the movie. Sometimes it depends on the music during the credits roll, e.g. Moby and the Bourne movies.

Credits roll awfully fast. Since IMDB was created, that’s where I view any employee that I’m interested in their work. Usually cinematographers, score, and sound engineers. If a period piece, costume design. And as Rogue said, if there is a post credits scene, I’ll know beforehand. And that’s usually not a thing with films I watch. That’s usually reserved for SuperHo films and Disney and I’m no longer interested in either.

I play it by ear. I’ll start to watch the credits, long enough to see if anything interesting pops up, and then it depends on the crowd. If there’s something that pops up deep into the credits then I’ll probably miss it-oh well.

Depends on the movie and who I am with. I am more likely to get up as the credits roll currently if I have my kids with me as they are like two dogs left alone in a house. With friends I am more likely to stay through the credits but I have never been tempted to leave before the credits roll. I "missed" the very end of 28 years later as I went on a popcorn run and came back to a bunch of WTF but thats not the norm.
