I think Conlan Carter who played the second "Doc" and the fellow who played Pvt. Nelson are pretty close to being the last surviving cast members. Jack Hogan (PFC Kirby) passed away at 94. Long career. https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/n...6dccc418776801&ei=25

Sad to hear about all these departures. I was and am still a huge Combat fan. Not crazy of the color episodes as this was a time of transition from B&W to Color, the originals were awesome and allowed me to play "WAR" as a kid much better.

One of my cable channels reruns Combat! And the episodes still hold up well. That said, I would not want Sgt. Saunders leading my squad. A lot of shit happened to him, nearly every week or so! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I have seasons 1 and 3 on DVD. Yep, it seemed like SGT. Saunders or 2nd Lt. Hanley were getting wounded every other episode. It's like that platoon/squad were constantly getting the hard jobs. Probably because they got them done.

I too grew up watching that show. 50+ years later, I finally got my own M1 carbine so I could look like the LT. I'm surprised to read they actually did some filming in France. Here are locations from IMDB, without details as to how much filming was done at each site: Loire Valley, Loire, France Korbel Winery - 13250 River Road, Guerneville, California, USA Hop Kiln Winery - 6050 Westside Road, Healdsburg, California, USA Bronson Canyon, Griffith Park - 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles, California, USA https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055666/locations/This message has been edited. I loved that show when I was a kid. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock "If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." Clarence Worley

Yep, and The Rifleman. Had an army uniform and green camo Mattel Tommyburst to play along with Sgt Saunders, and a Mattel Wincester cap rifle when it was time to assist Lucas McCain.

I'll always remember 3 or 4 Germans on a hilltop firing Mausers getting mowed down by Sgt Saunders with his Thompson from the hip. Damn that thing was accurate. Really liked it when out of school in the summer and I could stay up to watch Elliott Ness and the Untouchables.

We used to have two Thompsons in the Chicago Police armory. They let me shoot them on occasion. I once tried shooting it from the hip like Sgt. Saunders did. Couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.
