To qualify for inclusion, the film must be one that you've already watched at least three times, and intend to continue viewing into the future indefinitely. You also must own a physical copy.

I want to prioritize these three decades. However, if there's one you just love to death, that was made outside the stated date range, you may mention it as well. Just be sure to add a special note, indicating it's release date.

You have to own a physical copy of the movie for it to qualify, regardless of the release date.

Dog Soldiers and The Thing have horror elements as well, but they aren't actually scary movies. I consider them action/thrillers.

I almost included Black Hawk Down and Green Zone, as I have seen them enough times, own them, and think they're excellent, but I don't feel as compelled to re-watch them in the future as I do the above-mentioned titles. I also almost included Tremors, but I consider it more of a comedy.

The reason the left limit is at 1980 is so we don't cast a net wide enough to catch all of the classics. The right limit is at 2010 because I feel that first decade of the 21st century had some awesome movies that still had that sort of '90s charm. There's no doubt some really excellent ones after 2010, but the descent in quality had begun in earnest by then, I think.

I can't remember everything I actually own a physical copy of, but here are a few that I know.

Indiana Jones (all 3 but especially Raiders and Crusade)
Spy Game (Redford and Pitt, highly underrated, imo)
Casino Royale (everything a modern Bond film should be)
Blackhawk Down (for as difficult as it can be to watch, I have watched it a lot)
The Usual Suspects (in my top 5 films overall)
Reservoir Dogs (not the masterpiece that Pulp Fiction is but I like the taut story and stage-like setting)
Tombstone (great writing and acting)
True Romance (so slick and brutal and a few outrageously good scenes)

I'm sure there are more but not sure what I own (haven't watched a DVD in a long time.)

Nothing I haven't seen, so far, but I now intend to re-watch Spy Game. Maybe The Usual Suspects too.

Several great movies listed. My list includes most already mentioned along with Unforgiven and the first 4 movies in the Jason Bourne series with Matt Damon.

Heat, Ronnin, Blackhawk Down.

Unforgiven is one I have been meaning to re-watch. I have only seen it once, and it was over fifteen years ago.

The Bourne movies are also ones I've been meaning to revisit. I actually have them on disc; though I didn't purchase them.

The Dark Knight is one I was enamored with, when it came out. I have since cooled my jets on Bale's Batman (I kind of prefer the newer Pattinson take). I like Nolan well enough though, and the portrayal of Joker is likely reason-enough to watch that one again.

I watched Ronin for the second time just last month. That is an odd movie. It has some very good scenes, and I enjoy it overall, but something about it doesn't motivate me to pursue my own copy for future viewings.

Honorable mention to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, even though classifying them as "action" films is arguable. (Though if we're including sci-fi films with some action scenes, I guess fantasy films with some action scenes are fair game too.)

I did have a hard time deciding if The Thing qualified. I decided it met the thriller criteria; certainly more than the action criteria anyway.

Kingdom of Heaven is one of my all-time favorites. It meets the ownership and times-watched criteria, but I consider it a drama, though it is not without action. LotR, I think, would be the same. The Thing has a more constant atmosphere of tension that the aforementioned dramas lack, which puts it firmly in the thriller category, IMO.

Got it. So, action-thrillers from '80-'10 that are my favorite, but haven't been mentioned or aren't as obvious, but I own a copy of and have watched three or more times.

Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree and say that The Hitcher (2007) IS a terrible movie. I just hate that era of filmmaking style: shaky cam, quick cuts, non-stop expositional dialogue, generic music, heavy orange-teal color grading, less concentration on mood and ambience, etc. Sean Bean is okay, but he plays his hitcher as cold and determined. Rutger Hauer's hitcher is just batsh*t unhinged!

Lots of good action/thriller movies between 1980-2010, two of my favorites are Ronin and The 13th Warrior. I'll add Black Rain too.

I just looked at my collection to refresh my memory and saw Braveheart, Gladiator and Terminator 2; movies I’ve watched several times and enjoy

From 1971, "The French Connection." Can't be beat in this genre.

Braveheart and Gladiator would fall into the drama category. I haven't seen T2 in a while; that'd be worth a watch.

Oh you know, I got one for you: The Hidden (1987), with Kyle MacLachlan playing a deadpan FBI agent three years before his Twin Peaks character. Michael Nouri and Claudia Christian are in this too.
