My vote is the Game of Thrones where the two bastards meet. (Season 6 , episode 8 or 9?) Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. It's what I was thinking when I opened this thread. But the tank battle in Fury between the Tiger and 4 Shermans is up there, too. Ha, i was going to say the same as the OP just off the title. If youre looking at modern times I would say we were soldiers. Kingdom of heaven opening scene is pretty good too for brutality. We Were Soldiers and Saving Private Ryan are excellent recommendations. I would also toss into the hat Apocalypse Now, when the Cav hit those villages. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me."

Tangential Trivia: that scene used the only remaining working Tiger tank in the world, Tiger 131. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_131 -- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. JALLEN 10/18/18 https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...610094844#7610094844

I didn't see all of Fury and missed the Tiger scene. it amazing with that with all the tigers out there only one is operating. There was a company that was going to create full scale replicas to buy. I think someone built a replica for that movie "White Tiger", but it wasn't used. But the Tiger scene in Fury is the only one where a real Tiger tank was used to shoot a movie. Most others are old T-34's dolled up to look like Tigers. As for confusion in a battle scene, the time in Apocalypse Now when they arrive at the bridge. Captain Willard (Sheen) goes around asking "Do you know who's in charge here?" Just a couple of weeks ago I re-watched The Battle of the Bastards, and thought about starting a thread about it. The shots of John Snow in the midst of battle are IMO likely the best ever. They really show how big a factor luck seems to be in battle. Even if you have no interest in watching GoT, watch that battle.

Back, and to the left |
I thought of these same ones. Especially We Were Soldiers mainly because it actually dealt with a cut off element and mis-dropped air support/fratricide. And I almost forgot, they showed moments on both sides when the commanders were 'sensing' the shifts in the battle and issuing orders accordingly.
