I like Christmas - the spirit and joy of it. And I still watch and enjoy It's A Wonderful Life every year.

After all the water that has passed under the bridge though, I'm finding that I've tired of Christmas songs. It's the same songs every year, just perhaps different renditions by different artists. Jingle Bells came on the radio the other day and I had to change the station.

It seems that there aren't any new, good Christmas songs unless I've been missing them somehow. And I don't need a song where some diva is twisting a syllable for 30 seconds with different tones like a howling dog.

All the "good" songs seem like ones that I've heard for the past 60 years. And I've seem to grown tired of them now. Am I missing something?

Lol! Haha, spot on. Perfect example of what I'm talking about. Don't want some diva sexing up Christmas like a howling dog.

I agree.

I actually enjoy the old church hymns, but still like Mannheim Steamroller.

There seems to be only certain Christmas songs that the radio stations will play......do not know why. Rarely do I hear "Mary had a boy child", and others like it.

George Winston's Winter album, not necessarily Christmas, but not far off.

Also the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack.

Honorable mention for Trans Siberian Orchestra

I will never tire of Bing Crosby, Burl Ives, Andy Williams, et al. Those classics never get old for me and take me right back to my childhood and mom playing those old Firestone Christmas albums on the hi-fi.

The new garbage? Yeah, howling dogs is a good way to put it. You can have anything written after about 1970.

Agree, can't beat Mannheim Steamroller. But I also think Andy Williams...despite being played a lot, remains classic.

This remains a favorite.

This is probably my favorite

While not exactly new but something you don’t hear a lot is Alan Jackson’s Let it Be Christmas album is probably my favorite Christmas album.

If you like gospel Christmas songs, check out Sandra McCracken's Christmas record from a few years ago. Some traditional songs, some new written by McCracken. All very pleasant, rootsy gospel. Good stuff.

Not an original, but I like her laid back version.

Quickest way to get me to reach for the mute button, haha! I absolutely can’t stand that one.

Can I offer this instead?

For some fun, maybe a little Run DMC?

Maybe a little Grinchiness with Pentatonix?

I’ll add a small dose of Dropkick Murphys:

And The Waitresses.

Gosh, the ability to play the bass guitar like Tracy Wormworth... that’d be a great Christmas present to myself! Cool

Add in some Tom Petty

Then toss in some Bing Crosby and David Bowie:
