FIA AGREES WITH F1: "WE CANNOT BE HOSTAGE TO AUTOMOTIVE COMPANIES"

....the automotive companies who were very involved told us that they're never going to make another [new] internal combustion engine again.

Well, if you just left the damn regs alone and limited them to 3.0L 10 cylinder ICE they'd still be making those, for racing at least.

F1 has devolved into the Motorsport equivalent of wrestling. Highly managed and choreographed to the point of absurdity.

It’s not a race.

FP1 in 15 minutes!
Glad to be back, even if it's the Dolphins parking lot GP Razz
Better than Russia or France, but not the best, IMO. Still better than the dead pig [Vegas]

Look at that layout again, I do believe it's a bear. Smile

Both RBR & Ferrari running 'macarena' wings in FP1

RBR looks to open much wider, and actuate a lot faster than the Ferrari version.

Better than the 2 tone, but wish they'd put some color on it.
But, I'll take development and pace over a new livery

Better Sprint race than the previous races this year. Much less apparent harvesting of the battery and more driving.

WTH happened with Kimi’s start?

Seems like if you have a bad start, it's a really bad start.
Both Ferrari cars were flying at the start, heard the Ferrari PU uses smaller turbos, so they spool faster.

The race will be 3 hours earlier due to forecast of bad afternoon thunder storms.
The rules changes and car updates seem to be work well, at this track anyway.
I was disappointed to read Lando's comments about the decline in both McLaren's qualifying. He said they made no chassis setup changes but they did change the mapping around harvesting energy. The analysis of their performance clearly showed that that was responsible for the poor performance.
That means the software was still controlling the car in a way the driver can't change from the cockpit.
That's the fundamental problem with these regulations. Software should not be over-riding driver inputs. The sound from in car cameras also show they run out of battery well before braking. They just flatten out about 2/3's down the straight.

Not a bad race, this track definitely suits these cars, much less of the yoyo racing.
Canada being higher speed, might be back to yoyo-ing.

I received a notification of an "alternate broadcast" of the F1 race on the free streaming app Tubi. It had both the F1 and apple logos. Does apple own tubi?

The broadcast was apparently only during the live race, as the content is now unavailable.

Did anyone check it out?

Late penalty announcements changed the final order a bit. Mixed feelings about 20 second penalty. Think about Jim Clark running his car having to manually hold the gearbox in place, among other historical in-race events.

Is Max the best ever? Debatable but he sure is good.

Whatever, recovering from that spin in max traffic had to be divine intervention, no? Eek

He was a lucky boy to come out of it unscathed.
Leclerc's spin, definitely odd & seemed to affect his ability to negotiate RH turns.
Gasly's 'spin' aka barrel roll, pretty wild.

I think I heard something to the extent of 'leaving the track unnecessarily'
Looked like he tapped the wall on the LF in the spin, wonder if he damaged the steering
