How to flunk a flight lesson (but survive). Or: Why I don’t want a home next to an active airfield.

Instructor and student trying to return to small airfield north of Phoenix due to probs with the 1968 single engine whacked into the roof of the house on the left. Wing came off and fuel was dumped into that home then it flipped into the backyard of the neighbor. Student and instructor walked away and a resident of the first house was injured. All three are going to be okay.

Plane crashes into 2 homes in north Phoenix.

A small airplane carrying an instructor and a student pilot crashed into two north Phoenix homes minutes after departing from the Phoenix Deer Valley Airport.

On March 4, the Piper PA-28 plane crashed after it left the airport and landed in the backyard of one of the homes.

The crash sent people to the hospital, required hazmat crews to respond and forced people out of their homes...

...The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. near Cave Creek Road and Deer Valley Drive, according to FAA spokesperson Chris Mullooly. The site was about three miles away from the airport...

According to AirNav, the airport opened in 1959. I'm guessing the houses were bult later.

I love how this makes it sound like the airplane decided to do it and just happened to be carrying two people.
