That guy obviously has musical talent but, in addition, I think a lot of patience. It must be tedious to do each part and overlay it on top of each other.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

The Gathering played Wacken Open Air (1995), thus they're metal. They were not only one of the first Doom/Death bands to use keyboards as a permanent instrument, they also were on of the first metal bands to have female singer, and not as a guest or backing singer. All those female fronted bands that were popular 10 or so years ago, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence etc, The Gathering did it first, and arguably better. When Trey Azagthoth of Morbid Angel says your his favorite metal band, you're a metal band.
Here's a song from their first album:

Here's one from the first album with Anneke:
