I see what you mean about the look of He Walks by Night. And kinda funny seeing Jack Webb as a forensics geek (and the frequent use of the word "dragnet" Big Grin).

Even more interesting...look up Erwin Walker, the dude who 'inspired' the movie. Eek

I finished "Double Indemnity" and was like 'meh'. Maybe it was weird seeing Fred MacMurray as a bad guy. Just didn't appeal to me at all.

Double Indemnity, along with Out of the Past, is the very heart of Film Noir.

Looking back on it, a lazy day and some French movie, "Le Samourai", is what got me watching the others.

"Point Blank" looks good, I'm going there next.

Jarmusch notwithstanding, "Point Blank" has the production values of a made for tv movie.

I thought he was perfect in that role, but yeah, expectations can be funny because of their prior roles. One example is Mickey Rooney- until two years ago, I always associated him with good guy kind of roles until seeing some of his film noir roles. Quicksand is a great one for him, I like him better in this role than others in National Velvet, Boys Town and the Andy Hardy stuff. This is the full movie.

I don't know why you would say that.

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. I don't remember the time or place but I can't say I gave this film a fair viewing. It looks put together better than I recall but there was a spark missing. Other problems but, yeah, a spark or a heart or something.
