Early on Sgt. Carter was trying to make Gomer hate him. Carter had Pyle dig a hole, and after complete made him fill the hole and 'move' it. Season 1, Episode 7 is "Nobody Loves a Sergeant". The story is that Gomer just can't help liking Sergeant Carter, no matter how much the sergeant tries to get the recruit to hate him. But, there nothing in the episode about digging a hole. | |||
