Some friends and I will be finishing up my last bottle (of the four I had rounded up) of the Four Roses 100th Anniversary expression, Single Barrel, OBSV, 17yo, from 2010 or so.

My favorite from them, thus far. I don't stack my whiskey too deep, too hard to find anyway, but I love having just enough to enjoy various rarities for a handful of years each.

Four bottles (of this, when combined with my other choices) will have lasted me just at seven years, and that's pretty awesome, I think, especially for those that'll never repeat.

Had dinner with some friends at the Stage House in Somerset, NJ tonite. Ordered a wonderful, heavy pour of KC SiB 120pf and a Pomegranate Martini for SWMBO. While very nice drinks, the best part was that they were FREE with our room key at the Residence Inn! Big Grin

Oh and did I mention that I scored a 2017 GTS from my local purveyor for MSRP in their lottery this weekend???? I'd rather be lucky than good! Wink

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

Henry McKenna SiB tonight for me. It is pretty darn good considering the price. $ 24 for a 10 year single barrel BiB.

My store has Stagg Jr. for a decent price too. Might pick it up as I've heard later batches have been better than earlier ones.

I like Henry McKenna, it's my 2nd or 3rd favorite from Heaven Hill, and a good value.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and several good pours. Stopped by my go-to store to see what goodies happened to come in as OFBB was expected in the other day. No OFBB but they did set aside a bottle of Little Book and Entrapment for me.

Cheers!

Whew, saved u a little extra work. Nice bottle!

You can push the cork in, drain the bottle, and then use a plastic bag to get the cork out if need be.

I'm not really comfortable pushing one in, and potentially polluting the whiskey. This one had already broken in half and left the small chunk too, so I was worried it might break up more. Thankfully, the bottom piece that was stuck came right out and in one piece. I just use a screwdriver to gently seat the screw, then pliers to pull it out, always have.

It's good. But I have found that Lot B tends to vary more than the other VW expressions. This particular bottle is from 2013, fwiw. I've had some older and newer ones I liked less.

That said, I do like it, but Lot B is my least favorite of the expensive ones from them. I'd much much rather have more of the 15 or Rye instead, WLW, too. I think Lot B is pretty awesome for a Wheater at $40/bottle, and better than regular Maker by a country mile, but the prices and hassle these days make me care less about it, and Makers Cask Strength will be an acceptable substitute if/when I run out of Lot B or don't care to pay trendy prices.

Agree! I hope hope hope they start setting back 12 yrs of makers cask.

Having the parkers heritage 2017 boy for an 11 yr it sure is oaky. Too oaky for an 11 yr. Very disappointed! Of course that is the gamble of the bourbon game. I can now add it to my shelf and only ever buy the wheat version again!

Me, too, but don't bet on it. Makers moves sooo slowly in terms of adding new expressions, I can't believe the cask strength finally came to be. People had been asking for years.

I wish Weller 7/107 was still available (with age statement). I liked it better than VW 10yr and as well as I like Lot B, definitely better to me than the 12/90 Weller.

The old 10/100 Weller Centennial in the square-ish, ETL-like, bottles are even better, but only found once in a great while. I haven't seen one in 5+ years, but they do exist.
