Turn the graphics all the way down. I was able to keep mine more stable by bumping up to 16GB of RAM. It's something I've wanted to do for like evars, but I'm still maxing out at about 25FPS. The trouble is there's a lot of stuff going on in the game world, it's probably your processor dragging you down.

I get 25 with 6 gigs, did you really see a big increase with the ram upgrade? I am using fairly high graphics as well.

I7 930 no OC, GTX470, 6 Gig Ram

I've got a 680 and when I'm standing still can pull 60 fps. When I'm running around it drops down to about 40-45.

I turned it down to medium, and I get FPS in the high teens-20's.

In other news, I logged into ARMA 2, and learned how to fly a helicopter. I have to work on the fine controls, but I can get around and land (in a LARGE area) without crashing.

I logged in today. Played some. I walked... Then I ran... A lot. Then I killed several zombies with pistol head shots. Then I ran out of ammo. Then I walked some more... And some more.

Then I decided I was so lost I quit the server and restarted.

I did however find bacon. And with my love for bacon. I consider that a win.

Pretty easy. Had to download steam to redeem. I've always avoided it but to experience ASGs writing. I'll cope.

Had to mess with it and search the web for some errors I kept getting.

First few times I played. I would spawn as a crow!! Flew all over the map! Lol. Got the kinks worked out.

Thanks again for the lead. Probably the best $6 I'll spend.

FUCKING DISASTER!!

Or: How to lose 6 briefcases and a Stryker at the same time...

IDK how we even got the Stryker, that happened before I logged in. All I know is that it is a fucking badass piece of kit. You can mow down trees, and pickup trucks (THAT was the coolest and funniest thing I have done in-game) all while taking ZERO damage.

So, "we" decided that as the base and group grows, "we" should have some personal safes in which to store our favorite gear. Ok, no prob...grab a few briefcases and let's head to the trader city in the NE part of the map, Klen, I think.

We get to the field just north of Moglievka, the one where random helis like to spawn, and Nala spots a damned Osprey. We HAD to have that fucker. Thus begins the "real" adventure.

After a bit of discussion, mn_smokeater says "I can fly it", and Nala says, "I'll go along for the ride." After a few harrowing minutes, they made it exactly 1/2 a click from where they started before crashing. Nala dies, and Gurny and I head back to see if he can do better.

He can't...the Osprey is dead, somehow Gurny is still alive. Plus, we learned that the Stryker will fucking SQUASH pickup trucks at full speed (yes, that's the second time I mentioned it, because it was AWESOME!!). Nala respawns in Berenzhino, and we will pick her up as we continue on our way to Klen.

It figures that it would be MY dumbass driving the Stryker as I find the ONE tree it won't knock down. So, the damned thing flips. This is where the shit really starts to hit the fan. I died while trying to flip the damned thing back over. "Respawn in Berenzhino, we'll pick you up there," everyone says.

I respawn, just down the coast from the boat dealer, right in front of a damned truck! Cool, no need to mess with the fucking HALO drop garbage. Well, in order to get in the truck, you have to dismiss the respawn dialogue box. Truck's out of gas. FUCK!! So begins another "run a cross the map to rejoin the group".

We were feeling spectacularly teamwork-y last night, so "they" decide to come pick me up by the boat dealer. Along they way, they picked up a pursuit by a technical. Apparently there is a bridge along the coastal highway that will randomly FLIP STRYKERS, and they found it.

Stryker flips, Gurny and mn_smokeater get out to flip it back, and get kilt dead. Nala finds me, and we decide to try to squash the technical and take their shit in revenge for killing our dudes. Drove over the bridge again, Stryker fucking flips, again.

Nala and I get out to try to flip it, we get run over. Lucky fuckers take our shit.

Gurny then tries to chat privately with Shogun about the bridge glitch. Shogun decides to take the chat public and turns the whole server against Gurny. Which inevitably results in a 3-day ban for Gurny.

The rest of us weren't too keen on Shogun's choice to publicly call out Gurny either, but we kept out of the shit-talking. I believe that's why, as of my logoff, he didn't fuck with our base.

At this point, it seems like we will be looking for another server. We found one that has promise (MUCH faster login, better FPS), but it has AI badguys as well as superfast zombies. That wasn't a very fun combo, since the server was also in a night time cycle.

I logged off about 30-minutes in, and thus endeth the story.

God. You guys could fuck up a supermodel orgy...

What turned the admin against us so quick? He's been really cool thus far.

Gurny and Shogun were privately chatting about the bridge glitch, and at some point Shogun decided to call him out in the public chat. IMHO, that ain't cool. He wasn't bitching about losing our shit, because hell, we'd have done the same thing to another group, given the chance. He was complaining about the glitch, and asking Shogun to fix it.

Anyhow, I think we just got a bit arrogant about our abilities. We stayed too long in one spot, and were too helpful of teammates across the map.

The take-home message is: the mission is priority, if you die, it's on you to rejoin the group while the rest of us finish the job. I believe that should be the core of our operational SOP's going forward.

The new server we found is a lot faster, even with a ping in the 120's, I'm getting 30 FPS, and there is no lag between shooting a zombie, and the zombie falling.

I played it for about 20 minutes just now, and I found some sweet lootz: geared up with a M4 CCO, and a 1911, found a hospital and got some med supplies. The fast zombies are a lot easier in the daylight. The new server also accounts for pack weight, so you burn through food/water quicker with a heavier pack.

I'm sort of ambivalent about switching servers because of player/admin conflicts, because that shit is gonna happen. I am highly in favor of switching servers because it is evident that Shogun's is slow as fuck, and he's kind of an asshole.

Well, that's admins for you though. You gotta let them be king of their little world so they don't get all uppity.

Was it a metal trestle bridge? Just north of Berenzino? I don't think that was added after the fact. I think that is part of the base map of Chernaurus. So Shogun probably can't do anything about it.

Yeah it was a uh uhhhh experience that's for sure.
I had flown a Osprey in the normal side and done ok( slow and clunky but ok) and I think the rustiness and bit of lag made it go wonky. I about flipped it, hit some trees and killed Nala but was able to set it down intact and recover her kit and guard the bird.

When I was doing overwatch of the guys flipping the striker I in trying to keep the undead off did not think to look back and check 6. I got riddled full of bullets and hit the ground and tried to self blood bag and I was able to get up and aside the striker before going down again.

Then while Gurny and Shogun are having at it I hump over to the base for like an hour on foot.

I log out of that and join the server Nala found and while her and the rest are fleeing zombies on bikes I'm trying to find a point we can meet up dodging fast zombies and AI's with guns.

I find said point and I hear Gurny in a tractor mowing death machine coming so I bug out to the road get passed by Nala as she rides by and for a short time see Gurny before he bowls me over and kills me with the tractor. I respawn and some random guy and I get in a gunfight in a barracks and he hatchets me to death but I had kited a few zombies at him so it's a draw.

Later on Gurny said "Fuckit let's make our own server"(or something like that) sooo he did!!

It will take some tweaking and stuff but should be far smoother and faster.
