I did a search and didn’t find any discussion on Avatar 3. Went to see it Tuesday morning in IMAX 3D. The sound system rocked!!! We enjoyed the visuals as usual. Stunning scenery as expected. We got our senior discount of $2 per ticket. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I will stop here… Have you seen it? Or planning to ? ----------------------------------- Get your guns b4 the Dems take them away Sig P-229 Sig P-220 Combat

Saw it on the 24th. Not a fan. I didn't see Avatar 1. I did see Avatar 2 because it had Kate Winslet, and I see everything she appears in at the theater, if possible. I did think they exploited the IMAX 3D 48 fps better in that one. This one has too much plot and exposition, and way too many characters vying for my disinterest. Only Oona Chaplin as the evil volcanic rogue Na'vi chick was captivating to watch. Action scenes at the end are decent, but it was a massive two hour slog to get there. When you grow up with James Cameron movies that feature Arnold Schwarzenegger carving out his eyeball with a no. 11 X-Acto blade or aliens eating their way through people's chests, this kind of stuff is tepid kiddie fare. Modern CGI has gotten pretty impressive, but it's still not at that photorealistic level here. This film is a fair representation of an '80s Trapper Keeper school folder projected onto the big screen though. If they ever get to this level of digital filmmaking with something meatier and more adult, like a Black Hawk Down type of film, then I'll be on board. I don't know how anyone can watch this in plain ol' 2D 24 fps non-IMAX. It's monotonous as it is. And, how dare they sideline my beloved Kate with only a handful of quick scenes. Tsk, tsk.

I've heard the plot is a rehash of the first. The second movie's plot was nearly an exact copy of the plot of the first film, too. Yeah the 2nd installment was worth watching on 4k disc or high quality streaming but certainly not the theater. It’s just the same story but “water”. Nothing real impressive. This 3rd installment is “fire”. I’ll watch it in 3-4 months on 4k disc from the rental company I use. I’m pretty ambivalent so maybe push it out to mid or late 2026. What am I doing? Not planning on seeing it. I saw the first one in the theater because my son who was in elementary school at the time wanted to see it. He liked it then, I did not. And he now has no interest in the new one.
