New racer dying in accident: -2 points. f. Crew chief saves the day for team owner NOTE: additional bonus points if crew chief gets into accident doing same thing which forced him into retirement and new racer has to sneak out of hospital, rip off at least one cast, and race to save team owner's ass. Is Cruise just stealing concepts from other movies? Maverick was the trench run from Star Wars. This one sounds like Pitt's character from F1. And Lucas stole the trench run from the Dambusters of WWII. So what?

Ill considered at best. NASCAR viewership has been trending down for several years now. Few know the drivers or care about them. Racing movies are always predictable with a decent portrayal of speed and racing the only saving grace. And yeah it's a freaking sequel, way past the sell-by date. I'm still waiting for Tom Cruise to do a sequel/re-make of "Risky Business" myself. It's been forty-three years already. That said, I think if this project indeed makes it hopefully a good still photo of Robert Duvall as the crew chief in the first pic is on a desk or trophy case.

Lucas didn't have a choice. When they glued the two halves of the Death Star together, they came back the next day and the outer printed layer had shrunk, leaving them with a noticeable gap at the equator.

You mean Lucas didn't have a choice when he was at his typewriter and used the Dambusters because he couldn't think of anything else?

Besides, the trench containing the thermal exhaust port Achilles heel isn't visible on the Death Star model. .38supersig is likely assuming that the trench the Rebels flew down in A New Hope is the big exposed section that runs around the equator, a depression that was reportedly created on the real world model after the top and bottom halves of the mold shrank. But it's not. The surface of the Death Star was criss-crossed with various trenches and depressions, not just the especially large one at the equator. The trench with the thermal exhaust port was a smaller and much narrower one located near the north pole section of the Death Star. It's referred to as a "polar trench". And the trench ran north/south, like a longitudinal meridian. It's not much wider than a couple single-man starfighters. The equatorial trench area contains the station's hangars, among other things, and is much deeper and wider (hence why it's visible). The Millenium Falcon is pulled into a recessed hangar within the equatorial trench by the tractor beam earlier in the film.
