The first one I can remember was Quills came out when I was in High School. The lady friend at the time myself and our best other couple were wandering around and happened by the little artsy theater for some reason and decided to check it out.
A little akward and uncomfortable in the end but kind of a good film now that I look back on it.

The second being You, Me, and Everyone We Know. Man what a weird skewed movie.

Then today I started watching The End of The F****** World on Netflix. All 3 kids and the wife were asleep for a nap at the same time today. So no way was I going to make a peep that would wake any of them up so I had no choice to watch something as I did not feel like napping myself.
I had never heard of it before the other day or knew what it was about but someone made a YouTube video of a song I like set to different clips of the show (no audio from the show just video) and it seemed intriguing enough.
So I started watching and it is pretty dark. British show about a 17 year old psychopath and a 17 year old sexually curious girl.
Very strange but kept watching and I’ll likely finish the series.
If the characters were adults I am not sure it would seem as uncomfortable.

Quills was my favorite movie from that year! It's one of the many reasons Kate Winslet is my favorite actress of all time.

When Quills first came out, my buddy at college saw they were having a free preview of it on campus. He knew I was a huge Kate fan and invited me. I had not heard of it. The poster had Kate and Geoffrey Rush in a romantic loving embrace. I thought, "Oh, this is going to be like a sappy overly-sentimental melodramatic Merchant-Ivory production? Okay." THAT WAS SO NOT THE CASE! Awesome! Big Grin

Looking back now a good film.
At the time I was 17 year old kid with his 15 year old girlfriend (had not been dating long but had a crush on her since the day I met her 5 or so years prior) and their friends. Slightly awkward film for that scenario.

"Cruising" with Al Pacino. Some scenes actually had me looking away.

We enjoyed that. Kind of a window into a couple lost souls who may not be as uncommon as we'd wish. Driest humor, dead pan as a way of life, brutal as needs be and some great music.

I don’t know about uncomfortable but all the other adjectives work. The Lobster. Colin Farrel, Rachel Weitz (sp).

The best part is watching the movie, which is complete shit, then reading the puffed up reviews about how incredible it was. Makes you think you watched the wrong movie. Nope, it’s just typical Hollywood echo chamber back slapping.

Atrocious.

Under the Skin. No idea how I came across it. It felt weird but I couldn’t stop watching.

The films that come to mind for me are Only Lovers Left Alive,Let The Right One In, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (the original Swedish version). Watched all three at the suggestion of my husband.

Lovers has a great cast and I do like the film. I really enjoy watching Tilda Swinton. She's a chameleon.

The other two I didn't really care for. Perhaps I just don't like Swedish cinema. Razz

The Man In The High Castle made me feel like that in a lot of spots.

The Ward & June Cleaver/Nazi world

The cop shrugging nonchalantly about the falling ash and saying it was the day they burned the elderly and cripples

Seeing the American flag unfurl then seeing a swastika where the 50 stars ought to be

Yes, when I was 19, I asked a girl out to go to a movie. She was a very attractive, very nice girl.

I did not know what movie to go to, as I watched very little tv and did not go to many movies for previews.

I took her to Alices' Restaurant. Wanted to leave many times, but did not want her to think That I was anxious to get at her.
I told her I was sorry for that fiasco. Did not take her to another movie.

Trainspotting. Hostel. I'd say Human Centipede, but it was so stupid I turned it off.

Great film.
Have you seen Pi by the same director, I believe? I found it far more disturbing than Requiem.

In college the student union had a weekly movie and Kill Bill 2 was one of the films.
Went with a girl that I was friends with not really a date but just hanging out. She was visually uncomfortable with the violence and it was a bit over the top for me as well. We left so it does not really count for this thread. Though if not for her be so uncomfortable I would have likely finished it.

Black Mirror S1E1 “The National Anthem”

Between my wife and I we mustered enough courage to sit through it, like watching a train wreck you just cannot turn away. We just had to see it till it’s end, and worse off for it.

First, and last Black Mirror we watched.
