Anyone here with kids that grew up with The Wiggles?

My 2 boys; 20 months and 4 years have discovered them and they LOVE them and the danged songs keep getting stuck in my head! Hot Potato, Fruit Salad Yummy Yummy, Rockabye Bear

It's pretty cool that they've been going for 27+ years now and are in Generation 2 with everyone except Anthony (The Blue Wiggle and founder) having retired and been replaced, but it's still the same fun kids music as it always was.

We watch the whole mix of them from the early 90's to present day and it's funny to see Really Young Anthony in one clip, then right to Middle Aged Anthony in the next!

Thankfully, no. Big Grin My kids haven't ever had access to the show that I know of - I don't even know where to view it, but we don't have TV. and I never saw it as a kid either. Its not something my wife would've been able to tolerate over and over, I don't think.

however, I've heard from coworkers and family friends they're great for kids, good, entertaining, and a lot of parents even love em. I originally had to look up the Wiggles for context when I was watching all the episodes of Scrubs and Dr. Cox made several Wiggles references after having his son on the show.

My kids latched onto shows like Sarah and Duck, Octonauts, and Puffin Rock on Netflix. My son's now 8 and into Power Rangers and Pokemon, while my oldest daughter (5) now likes Barbie movies. My youngest (2) is in a Disney phase, watching Nemo, Frozen, The Incredibles, and Brave on repeat.

But as with any kids show with songs, good luck getting them out of your head! Razz

My daughter loved them growing up....sadly one of them had a serious drinking problem that caused issues at some live shows (a friend was a camera operator at one such show)

We watched them with my daughters when they were younger. Sing the songs, dance with them and have a good time. Only get so much time to make memories at that age.

Also, Bear In The Big Blue House (I’d sing Where is Shadow? during towel off after bath time), and sometimes the Backyardigans.

Then we moved on to the Penguins of Madagascar and Spongebob (the oldest and I agree, first season is the best. Our favorite is Band Geeks, my second is Pizza Delivery and hers is Chocolate With Nuts).

Now... Teen Titans Go! provides our brain dead fun.

I think the first words Marky spoke (sang?) were "Eat and chew" from the Feeding Time song. He was diagnosed as autistic and was non-verbal until then. I got every available VHS or DVD by the Wiggles after that.

My son watched them for a few years (early 2000's). Big Red Car was his favorite song and one of the songs they did with Captain Feathersword.

Thank God my daughter never got into them LOL

WAKE UP, JEFF!!!

What's hilarious is that you know they are Australian and Aussies pronounce Jeff more like "Jiff", right?

I was watching the one night with my 4 year old and yelled "WAKE UP JEFF!" and he says to me "Daddy! It's WAKE UP JIFF!" Big Grin

Thankfully, my sixth month old would rather listen to AC/DC or KISS then any of these sorts of music. I pretty much leave the TV off and just have classic rock playing non-stop. He and I will stand in the living room and I will sing while he blows raspberries driving my wife crazy. He won’t even go to sleep unless the radio is on and tuned to rock. My wife will put on an early '90's hip hop play list and he will start to squirm and get fussy.

The chef in that video, paul hester, was from crowded house. Suicide 2005. Sad really - depression and divorce not a good combo.

I knew through a connection one of the wiggles band members. They traveled and worked hard. Funny to think it all started as a university project which led to the band the Cockroaches then finally the wiggles.

Oh wow, didn’t know that!

Crowded House and later the Finn Brothers are some of my favorite music.

I thought that guy sounded awfully familiar.

If you've never seen Jim Breuer's stand up special "And Laughter for All" I highly recommend it. He talks for a minute about The Wiggles. Tried to find a video clip but could only find audio. He can be a visual guy so its definitely better seeing it.

My son loved the original guys and he watched them every morning and watched the tapes when the show was over. He pretty much lost interest when Greg, (the yellow Wiggle), left due to medical issues. It just wasn't the same without him. We had every vhs tape they made and a few cd's so we could listen to them in the car-EVERYWHERE WE WENT.
