Like him or not, he was a pretty decent shoe.
Not sure what happened yet but he was in the hospital with a sudden and serious illness.
I think he raced just last weekend.

Seemed sudden.

Won a race last weekend and was on top of the world.

Was a defining character and will be missed.

Yeah, this was a surprise. 41 with wife and two small kids. Sucks for everybody.

He wasn't called "Rowdy" for nothing, but I liked him.

Very sad. Such a young family. I always thought he was like the current version of Dale E. Sr. would be. Godspeed K.

Kyle was hated when he showed up in NASCAR, primarily because his brother Kurt was hated. They both won and just had faces people wanted to punch (think Jimmy Spencer).

Kyle would be roundly booed with every win, he'd respond with a gracious bow and a smile. They'd just boo more.

But Kyle just kept winning (234 across the three NASCAR divisions). He took so many checkered flags, the fans saw the immense talent and he went from villain to hero. He earned the cheers, I came to love him.

Godspeed, sir, well done.

Never liked Kyle, but he was a good driver. Was, meaning several years ago. Lately he’s been mediocre. But, definitely gone too soon. RIP.

He was reporting feeling Ill during the race at the Glen, and requested the Team/Nascar doctor to meet him in the pits after the race. I'm guessing to get a steroid shot.

Then he goes out and wins the next Truck race handily and looked perfectly fine.

Busch was a love hate guy, but you could not deny that he wasn't a winner and hard driver. Way too young.

I know he suffered a double compound fracture to his right leg and a broken left foot in a 2015 Xfinity Series crash at Daytona.

Then earlier in the year he suffered a severe gash to his leg that required 24 stitches.

I was reading the local Charlotte, NC news and they had an update..

According to Cabarrus County emergency dispatch audio, a caller requested an ambulance to the GM Charlotte Technical Center on GM One Team Drive NW.

Uh..I’ve got an individual that’s uh..shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out, and is uh..producing a little bit of blood. Coughing up some blood,” the caller said.

I have read other reports that hint at Pulmonary Embolism.

Being the nerd that I am, along with enjoying medical investigations, I did some research on sinus infections and the effects of driving in a NASCAR Race.

I imagine that the G forces, stress, fatigue, dehydration, wearing a helmet, plus the infection itself would exacerbate symptoms.
Add in the weather, altitude, etc.. You have a steaming cauldron of trouble brewing.

There’s a recording of the 911 call from the GM tech center where he had been using a simulator.
The caller stated he was in the bathroom, coughing up blood and about to pass out.
Not much more than that at this point.

This certainly isn't the way I wanted to enjoy a vacation...

Kyle Busch was the last of the shit talkers in a sport that desperately needs them. He's also one of the few drivers that I would list with the all time greats because that's what he was: A Driver. If there was something he could race (or couldn't) during a weekend, he was racing it. He was also one of the few who could dominate an entire NASCAR weekend by winning the Truck Series Race, Busch/Xfinity/Nationwide/O'Reily/Preparation H/Whatever Race, and the Cup race.

RIP Rowdy.
