Appearing in 1979 on William F. Buckley's Firing Line, with constant interruptions by Dorothy Fuldheim getting it wrong, every time she opened her cake hole. https://x.com/Ne_pas_couvrir/s.../2040435591121178927

I’ve enjoyed Ben Stein’s viewpoints for a long time (and his character in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off of course). But what strikes me about this video is the civility of the disagreement, as compared with current times. I don’t think the same debate, if held now, would be as civil. I picture it devolving quickly, with raised voices and flailing pointy-fingers, like an episode of the Maury Povich Show. Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around. — — — — — — — — — — — — God bless America.

Fuldheim kept pushing back on Stein’s insistence that tv was impacting the minds and thought processes of viewers, then Stein brought of the example of Sure deodorant and how it became the top selling deodorant in the U.S. just six weeks after introduction. Her pushback then was weak. _______________________________________________________ despite them

Ben Stein was absolutely correct back in 1979. One can argue that a lot of the leftist agenda shit in TV started when TV exec Fred Silverman instigated what is known as the "Rural Purge", a deliberate campaign to cancel hit TV shows overnight, shows like The Beverly Hillbillies, Mayberry RFD, Hee Haw, Green Acres, etc. Silverman has stated he had always hated shows centered in the rural South, calling them "shitkicking" shows, and he hated the people that watched them, didn't care the shows had high ratings. Ben Shapiro wrote a book Primetime Propaganda that centers on how the left took over TV, interviews with many producers actually admitting their inserted agendas. Ben makes a very good point about the continuous replaying of the same leftist message eventually permeating American culture. I'd like to push back on that idea, though, but I'll need some help from Bill Whittle. In this video, Bill points out that people can see through the leftist nonsense. An excellent example from the video: "Mike Stivic is the liberal ideal: open-minded, college educated, and politically correct. Archie Bunker was the conservative foil: stupid, bigoted, ill-informed, loudmouthed, and rude. But it was Archie Bunker that people adored because deep down, you couldn't hide the fact that Mike Stivic was parasitical upon Archie Bunker. That Mike Stivic could only afford to mock and demean Archie because Archie was working on a loading dock to pay for Meathead's room and board. When it was all said and done, alpha male Archie Bunker was a hundred times the man that beta male Mike Stivic was. And they both knew it. And so did we." To be fair, not everyone will see through the bullshit, but many do. I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up. - Charlie Brooker

That’s kind of a weak video with a weak argument. Most of his examples are from deep in the last century. He also confuses interesting characters with its still pushing a harmful stereotype. Sure, that character got the lines but did he also push a strong idea of how wrong his viewpoint was and how backwards his thinking? End of the day Stein was more correct. His observations were subjectively and probably objectively more easily shown to be valid. Bottom line. Yes some people and some individual characters color outside Steins observations. Yet if you are showered with a certain viewpoint for literally your entire life it would be surprising if something didn’t stick at times. He never even mentioned the buffoon, butt of all jokes, father in nearly every tv show.

Not for nothing para but my post was referring to infidels linked video. Which was a poorly written piece to my mind. Ben Stein on the other hand was spot on. I don’t even understand your post. If you agree with infidels video then it weakens Steins video. I mean, it was your posted video. I was agreeing with your video and not the video that was the counter argument to yours. Did you watch Infidels video? Do you agree with his point which is basically counter to Ben Steins point? So I guess I accept the zero cent review.
