On Apple TV...

Not bad...I wasn’t thrilled about Jason Sudeikis but he’s doing a pretty good job.

I like it a lot. Easy watch with 30 min episodes. Binged watched one and half evenings. If only Apple TV does the same as Netflix and just release the full season...

We enjoyed it quite a bit. I think there are a lot of jokes packed into each scene. Repeat viewings will uncover everything.

My favorite scene was the practice speech. It was almost word for word the Iverson rant.

Really well done.

I just started watching this. Was on the fence the first few episodes. Didn't know what to make of it. But there was enough to keep me going.

None of the actors are familiar to me. But I do like the characters. Lasso's attitude and spirit is infectious. And it's a pleasure watching the characters become better people. And some funny lines along the way.

Enjoying the show.

They've been filming Season 4 at various spots in my home town. Not sure how long they're here for, but I love that Jason Sudeikis is giving some love to his hometown.

My cousin is a big fan of the show and had me watch some of the series. I haven't watched the majority of it, but I've seen enough to recommend it.

The show spawned from a few joke commercials NBC made to promote their soccer coverage, and Jason Sudeikis is a SNL alum, so it'd be easy to predispose the show as another SNL skit that they tried to stretch out way too far. It is not, and the show did in fact win many awards.

Going in, you expect a formulaic fish-out-of-water sitcom, but it's not. It does a great job of balancing comedy & drama. The title character, Ted, is a middle-aged white guy from the Midwest. Think about how easy of target that is for the wokerati, but I can't remember the writers ever taking cheap shots on him about his privilege.

All the protagonists have depth and are given good character arcs. It's much more than a situation comedy, but it's not obvious after watching one episode either. You have to watch at least a few.

Here's a popular scene from S1E8 that might convince you to give the show a chance.

But...the series only ran for 3 seasons--designed that way from the onset.

That's great to hear. I loved seasons 1-3. I laughed, cried, it was great. It it one of the best shows on AppleTV+ next to Silo and Severance.

We fell off midway through S3, not for lack of interest just short on time.
Need to pick it back up

I looked at the title, looked at the face of the character, and I thought it’s just a banal comedy of a satirized character. I finished Plur1bus, Silo, and F1. I figured I might as well check it out.

It’s a very well-written plot line. They removed the absurdity of his personality by having him go through divorce. So now, at least where I am in the series, we get to see his positivity despite the pathos of his life.

I like the show.

I agree that it is well written, and more than a sit-com.
However, most of the way through season 1 I lost interest as it became like a soap opera.
It has clever moments, and is well done.

This is a great series. I've watched it all the way through at least three times. I'll be looking for something to watch and say I'll catch an episode of Ted. Find myself watching again.

There's an episode in the third season where Ted talks to the team using a non-complimentary metaphor about the Denver Broncos that gets me laughing even as a lifelong Broncos fan.

The town of Richmond where the show takes place has seen a surge of tourism due to the show. Already a very pleasant setting with an idyllic town green, Ted Lasso-fans have flocked to the West London town to visit the pub that is in many scenes and take pictures in the doorway to Ted's apartment. Today there's a Ted Lasso/Richmond FC gift shop there.
I visited the UK back in May and went to several soccer matches one of which was at Crystal Palace's stadium Selhurst Park, which serves as the fictional stadium for Richmond. Having several American's in the crowd mention anything about Ted Lasso at the match, resulted in several hard-stares and pointed comments from the other fans Big Grin

Finished the 3 seasons.

It's more complex than first glance. It's the classic good guy versus the bad guy. The difference is that everyone has the good guy versus bad guy battling it out within themselves.

Very entertaining.
