I was wondering about this too. I just figured I missed an episode where the WKRP folks landed on the island for a day. After all, they did have many visitors. These go to eleven.

Must have lost my head. ETA: That was a rather curt reply on my part, sorry. Perhaps if I explain where I was coming from. Yes, the thread was about the tv show, Gilligan’s Island, but as seems to be inevitable, the conversation turned from the show itself to the age-old (I might say, tiresome) “Ginger or Mary Ann?” Debate. At that point, when the discussion turned from the show to discussing Ginger and Mary Ann, I fely justified in proclaiming MY favorite from that era of tv…or is it Jeannie. ![]() _______________________________________________________ despite them

The Professor Russell Johnson: Wikipedia. After graduating from high school, Johnson enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces as an aviation cadet. On completing his training, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He flew 44 combat missions in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a bombardier in B-25 twin-engined medium bombers.[3] On March 4, 1945, while flying as a navigator in a B-25 with the 100th Bombardment Squadron, 42nd Bombardment Group, 13th Air Force, Johnson's B-25 and two others were shot down during a low-level bombing and strafing run against Japanese military targets in the Philippine Islands. The B-25s encountered heavy anti-aircraft fire, and all three had to ditch in the sea off Zamboanga. Johnson broke both his ankles in the landing, and his bomber's co-pilot was killed. Johnson received a Purple Heart for his injuries. He was also awarded the Air Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one campaign star, and the World War II Victory Medal. Johnson was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant on November 22, 1945, then joined the United States Air Force Reserve.[4] Let all Men know thee, but no man know thee thoroughly: Men freely ford that see the shallows. Naw, we all know that WKRP helicopter never landed on the island, they just dropped Turkeys on it.... and to be true to the subject at hand, Mary Ann or Ginger, I'm going Mary Ann, Ginger would be too much maintenance and Mary Ann could whip up dinner, clean the stalls, and still be hot..

Ok, now a tough question for children of the 60s and 70s: Mary Ann, Ginger, Jeannie (Barbara Eden), Batgirl (Yvonne Craig), or Mrs Peel (Diana Rigg)? For the youngsters who don't know these beautiful ladies, use some Google-Fu.

Yep, with Diana Rigg in 2nd. "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965

I really seriously considered "Samantha" as she is definitely #3 on my list. First in my heart: Mrs. Emma Peel/Diana Rigg A very close Second: Jeannie/Barbara Eden

Gilligan, Green Acres, Get Smart, Hazel, Jeanie. How long before they start making them again with very poor results? Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

When my daughter was in grade school, a local station ran Gilligan's Island reruns in the morning. She would watch the show while she was getting ready for school and eating her breakfast. She knew the theme song and used to sing it all the time.

That is a real tough one.......Julie Newmar followed really really close by Lee Meriwether. Honestly, Newmar for days beginning with S and Meriwether for days beginning with T & W....Mondays and Fridays would be recovery days....just saying. ![]()
