We cut the cable cord a few weeks ago and the cable company unceremoniously cut off my email without any warning.

I am looking for recommendations for a new email host. I don't want to use gmail because of the way they track you all over the internet.

Are there any other options out there?

Here are some of the best free email services available in 2025, based on ease of use, security, storage, and features:

1. **Gmail**: Offers 15GB of free storage (shared with Google Drive), a user-friendly interface, powerful search, and integration with Google services like Calendar and Docs. It's a top choice for personal use due to its reliability and features.[](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZv0_Rg1lCA)[](https://www.lifewire.com/best-free-email-accounts-1356641)

2. **Outlook.com**: Provides 15GB of free storage, a clean interface, and integration with Microsoft 365 tools. It’s great for productivity with features like calendar syncing and focused inbox.[](https://clean.email/best-free-email-service-providers)[](https://www.lifewire.com/best-free-email-accounts-1356641)

3. **Proton Mail**: Focuses on privacy with end-to-end encryption and a free tier offering 1GB storage. Based in Switzerland, it’s ad-free and ideal for security-conscious users.[](https://proton.me/mail)[](https://forum.endeavouros.com/t/anyone-here-use-a-different-email-service-to-the-usual-curious-to-hear-opinions-gmail-and-outlook/59223)

4. **Tutanota**: Another privacy-focused option with end-to-end encryption and 1GB of free storage. It’s open-source, ad-free, and supports secure calendar and contacts.[](https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/1f1xd0w/are_there_any_free_email_providers_anymore/)[](https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/191751/list-of-free-email-service-providers)

5. **Zoho Mail**: Offers 5GB of free storage and a professional interface, ideal for small businesses or personal use. It includes calendar, tasks, and notes, with a focus on productivity.[](https://clean.email/best-free-email-service-providers)[](https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/191751/list-of-free-email-service-providers)

6. **Yahoo Mail**: Provides 1TB of storage, a simple interface, and features like disposable email addresses. It’s less privacy-focused but good for casual use.[](https://clean.email/best-free-email-service-providers)

7. **Mail.com**: Offers 65GB of storage, customizable domain names (e.g., @email.com, @usa.com), and device syncing. It’s a versatile option for users wanting unique email addresses.[](https://www.mail.com/)[](https://www.warriorforum.com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/384717-where-could-i-get-free-email-accounts-arent-gmail-yahoo.html)

**Recommendations**:
- For **general use**: Gmail or Outlook.com for their balance of features and storage.
- For **privacy**: Proton Mail or Tutanota for encryption and ad-free experience.
- For **business**: Zoho Mail for its professional tools.
- For **storage**: Yahoo Mail or Mail.com for generous limits.

Each service has trade-offs, so choose based on your priorities (e.g., privacy vs. storage). If you want more details on any of these, let me know!
