Worked with a guy from Buffalo that was a drummer in a ND cover band. I do like his music.

In 1978, I took an Spring break trip to Spain, with our Spanish class. We were there for 10 days and traveled from City to city in a Mercedes bus. Our Driver was a big Neil Diamond fan and only had on cassette. We listened to Neil Diamond whenever we were in the bus. No one complained, and to this day every time I hear Neil Diamond, it takes me back to a really good time in my life. Niech Zyje P-220 Steve

Being a New Englander and Sox fan, we've been Sweet Caroline'd to death. Always liked Solitary Man but prefer Warren's Splendid Isolation for a loner song. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Blackmore, Harshest Dream, Reality

Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
I was born in 1983 and have always enjoyed Neil Diamond. Growing up our across the street neighbor was quite possibly the biggest Neil Diamond fan the world has ever seen. Her sons were in their 30s and did not come around too often and her husband died when I was little. She lived alone and would always make us kids in the neighborhood drinks and snacks especially in the summer. She also taught us to make friendship bracelets and macramé and played cards with us. I presume she did it so she was not by herself all the time and enjoyed the company. But anyway she always and I mean always had Neil Diamond playing. The kicker off all was she had if I had to guess a 30’ x 20’ portrait of Neil Diamond hung in her backyard. She had your typical 6’ privacy fence and this thing towered many times higher than that. Don’t have a clue where she got it, if it was a concert banner, a billboard or what but this thing was huge. I mowed her grass for many years and old Neil was always keeping an eye on me to made sure I did a good job. I have always enjoyed Neil Diamond and anytime I hear a song of his come on I see my neighbors smiling face. Her smile when we would come over to learn a new craft or play cards was the essence of pure joy. Sadly she passed many years ago but her memory is alive and well every time I hear his songs. Especially: Link to original video: https://youtu.be/wTSLRbm8L9E ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

My favorite songs are Walk On Water, and Mourning Side. The later has special meaning for me being a wood worker. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

I work in a small business surrounded by wimmin folk. The music I'm forced to listen to, well... Occasionally Neil comes on their playlist and I enjoy it. Now somehow they see me as his biggest fan. So I shush them whenever he comes through the speakers out of reverence because I'm apparently, according to them, his biggest fan. I don't own any of his stuff but wouldn't mind it. But when he comes on, we all perk up, shush, or try to sing along. Signed, Forever In Blue Jeans. ETA: Just tonight, one of the girls put on three ND songs to start the year out right. Just for me.

Clamshell was the B body cars, full size like Buick Le Sabre, Oldsmobile Delta 88, Pontiac Catalina, Chevrolet Impala/Caprice. The Oldsmobile Cutlass wagon in the photo was based on the A body, the intermediate body cars like Pontiac LeMans, Chevrolet Malibu, Buick Century/Regal. ffips, your accompanying Pat to the concert sounds like it meant a lot to you, maybe not at that time but today. And it probably meant more to Pat than you ever thought. Sometimes the smallest thing turns out to be much larger than we ever thought possible. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. @shovelhead, true enough. In the moment, things can be missed. Upon reflection, the memory becomes sweeter. Pat was a great lady in her own ways. Just as it suprised me that night that I knew so many songs, it has been fun to see not only the "typical" fans comment, but also those who aren't typical fans. I think there are a few artists that can span across generations and genres, but that should be a different discussion.

Little ray of sunshine |
I once saw Hank Williams Jr perform live in a very small venue. Hank Williams Jr. is not my kind of country/rock - loud redneck "We'll kick your ass" music is not my thing. But Hank is a showman and a performer. It was a good show. Neil Diamond is probably the same, although I haven't seen him live. His style of pop/rock just isn't my cup of tea. But I have no doubt he kills it on stage. A woman I work with said the same about Barry Manilow. She took her mother, and was not looking forward to it. But she reported later that Manilow puts on a great show, even if you don't love his sugary pop. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

I remember being at some event/party/ whatever with my parents when I was two and hearing Neil Diamond singing Song Sung Blue on the radio. At the time my dad was very active in the Oregon Libertarian Party. Later in life my mom would buy different Neil Diamond Albums and I would play them (this is my pre-teen years). I remember watching The Jazz Singer when it first came on HBO sometime around 1980 as there was ash from Mt. St. Hellens all over the ground and in the air. I have purchased a few Neil Diamond cassettes and CDs over the years, and really like how he put his spin on the Leonard Cohen songs. Some of Neil's songs put me in a happy place, and some are tear jerkers like Morningside. __________________________ More blessed than I deserve. http://davesphotography7055.zenfolio.com/f238091154

I think he is talented, great performer and a dedicated hard worker. We used to sell the hell out of Audio in the Eighties with Hot August Night on Mobile Fidelity Half Speed Mastered LP's. His songs are catchy and unique and sound great but it's not my everyday music or anything I regularly listen too. Still he earned his props. YMMV

I always have enjoyed "America", even though he didn't sing it when he came to Fenway Park after the Boston Marathon bombing, I equate it with that event and the real why people still want to come to America. Bill Gullette
