I didn't think it was quite as good as The Martian, but if you liked The Martian you'll like this book as well. Extremely similar style (snarky, nerdy humor + science).
^^This. The Martian was an exceptional book with everything in it both possible and plausible (except for the first part re: the storm that gets him stranded and Weir makes that clear from jump) and I really enjoyed every character in the book.
This book is more of a stretch in what is both possible and plausible and I had a bit of harder time finding empathy for the protagonist, but still really enjoyed it.
That said, I'm still watching the movie for sure.

As much as I like the novel, I'll wait for it online. Gosling's portrayal looks spot-on, though.

I read the first few chapters, but got sidetracked by the silly / cartoonish spacecraft drawings.
I need to pull it up on my kindle and give it another go.

I know I am being snobby here, but when I was a young teenager I marveled at the Saturn V. I mean this looks like it was made from toilet paper tubes and printer paper.

Great book. I'm hoping they do as good of a job with the movie as they did with "The Martian".

I read the Martian before the film released. That was a mistake as once they cast Matt Damon as the lead, I knew I'd be disappointed. It did not surprise me. I think I'll watch the film of Hail Mary, first, but I'm not in a rush either way.
