Prayers offered up that he is able to quickly and fully recover.

Jay Leno’s Face Reportedly ‘Seriously’ Burned After Car Fire As He Cancels Conference Appearance

Jay Leno was rushed to the hospital following a ‘serious’ medical emergency where a car fire burned his face on Nov. 13.

Jay Leno, 72, suffered “serious” burns on the left side of his face after a car caught on fire “without warning” inside a Los Angeles garage on Sunday, November 13, according to TMZ. The burns reportedly didn’t penetrate Jay’s eye or his ear. The television host is reportedly recovering at the Grossman Burn Center. The status of his condition is unclear.

Jay had to cancel his appearance at the Financial Brand Forum in Las Vegas which was scheduled for Sunday night because of the “serious medical emergency”, according to an email sent to the conference’s attendees that was obtained by People. The email read, “His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling. All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.” Jay canceled the rest of his engagements for the remainder of the week, according to TMZ.

HollywoodLife has not confirmed this news independently. We have reached out to Jay’s rep for comment.

Jay hosted The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009, and then again from 2010 to 2014. More recently, Jay has been hosting Jay Leno’s Garage on NBC, which showcases his passion and love for cars and motorbikes. The show’s seventh season concluded on October 26 with a special appearance from President Joe Biden.

I pray for his complete recovery.
I admire Jay as someone that puts his money and his body behind his mouth.

I hope he fully recovers. Seems he's in good spirits.

Jay Leno has suffered “serious burns” but is in stable condition following a gasoline fire, the former “The Tonight Show” host confirmed to Variety. Leno said in a statement: “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”

Oh no my favorite celebrity! I hope he recovers with little scaring and thank goodness his eye and ear seem ok.

Some third-degree burns are what I've read. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Jay.

Dr. Grossman noted that Leno has been kind while undergoing treatment at the burn unit. At one point, he passed out cookies to children, and has been helping out with other patients.

"We're very happy to have him as part of our team," the doctor said.
Two things- first, reading between the lines, Leno is on his feet, and that's very good.

Secondly, Jay Leno is a rarity in Hollywood; he's a man who is exactly what he appears to be- a kind and considerate person.

He's the best kind of 'old car guy.' They guy who loves cars and loves people. My dad always had antique cars. People would constantly come up to him (when he was, for example, driving a yellow '50 Plymouth convertible). Dude would say something like "Oh, man, we had a car EXACTLY like that when we were kids. Except, it was a ford. And it was a hardtop. And it was red." My dad ALWAYS engaged them in conversation and answered their questions. We joked about them on the drive home, but he NEVER corrected them or did anything but help them connect with some great memories.

I've seen MANY old car people like this. My folks were members of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Their chapter was the nicest bunch of enthusiasts I ever met. There would be doctors and lawyers with lots of cars (they might be driving a $150,000 Packard), and there were the retired plumber/trucker/grocer and his wife with one old car that needed chrome work and paint. But, there was NO social hierarchy. Everybody was equal, and there were no snobs. Even as a teenager, this fascinated me as I was witnessing something very special.

I've heard of clubs full of snobs. People had to let you know how much money they had. Arrogant and 'better than you.' I have no use for such people.

I've never had the privilege of meeting Mr Leno, but from what it sounds like, he's one of the nice ones like my dad and his AACA chapter.

I'm glad to hear this update. It means he's doing well (considering he is apparently in a burn ward, that it).

Obviously I don't know the man, but that is honestly the perception I have of him, and was my immediate reaction when I first heard the story reported and why I decided to post it here.

I've watched several of his shows and videos, and it's obvious that he isn't into rare and exotic cars for the prestige or cache`, but is truly a knowledgeable car enthusiast...and a man who is decent and considerate enough to share his passion with others.. he really does care about people as much as he does about cars.

Jay Leno is a class act, and it doesn't surprise me at all that he would visit with other burn unit patients.

One of the best ways to see how good a person Jay Leno was to others is to watch the movie, Love the Beast, where Eric Bana interviews both Leno and Jeremy Clarkson.
When Bana has an accident racing his newly built Ford rally car, Clarkson tells him he crashed because it was a Ford and laughed at him. When Leno spoke about it, he told Bana he crashed because he didn't build the car so he didn't have as close a connection to it as if he would had he built it. He truly understands the passion and connection people have with their cars.

100%

Leno may be on the left but he never wore it on his sleeve and rubbed your face in it like Letterman did and the execrable Colbert does every night.

I had the pleasure of seeing him in person, he performed at the Naval Academy for fleet week.

It was a great show…a class act.

Dr. Phil was also interviewed for the movie but I'm specifically talking about Clarkson vs Leno.

I’ve got friends in Cali, we’re all motorcyclists. Jay would just randomly show up to the Rock Store and some wicked ass bike. No attitude, would talk to the riders there, and let anyone who wanted to, check out the bike he was on. I think he rode his jet bike up there one time IIRC. But the guys I know have met him several times and I’ve NEVER heard an ill word. I can’t say the same for people I’ve met in the music and film business. Jay makes me laugh. He doesn’t give a fuck and just rolls around in jeans, denim shirt and sneakers. So damn down to Earth.

Prayers for a speedy recovery. He’s got money and should access to the best doctors around. We need him around.

Gas leak while under the car & ignited does not sound like something you quickly extricate yourself from (though being on fire gives some motivation).

Wow! It's good to see him on the mend. Those burns are nowhere near as bad as I'd feared.

I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up.
