Even if you’re just a casual baseball fan, I really think you’ll enjoy this. He pitched for 27 years in the Major Leagues.

Hall of Fame
MLB record 5,714 strikeouts
7 No hitters!
Lifetime Batting Average Against, MLB record .204
He actually holds 51 MLB records

He never won a Cy Young Award

The man, the legend. Around these parts (TX) talking shit about him might just get you a punch in the face. He’s well respected here.

I’ve rented this blu ray but it must be in heavy rotation because it’s wait listed for a while. So I’m waiting. Hope it’s good.

Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to watch it. He was one of my favorites growing up.
Had The Ryan Express poster out of a cereal box on my wall growing up for years!

He's a rancher these days and sells quality Angus beef cuts retail. I plan to buy one of his briskets soon and do it the only way you can. Texas style of course!

He’s raised cattle for a long time; I believe he bought his place when he pitched for the Astros.

The link you provided is great though, lots of cool stuff in addition to the cuts of meat.

I grew up not too far from the Texas Rangers' stadium(s), and went to many a Ranger game as a child where Nolan Ryan was pitching.

I had a ton of Nolan Ryan posters and baseball cards.

I watched this last weekend.
Anyone who followed BB 1960s-2000 should watch.
Many great interviews with other hall of famers.

I will add to the chorus of thumbs up. I grew up in Orange County when he was with the Angels and he was always one of my favorites. I really enjoyed the show.

Just finished it up!
Fantastic! One of the best sports documentaries I have seen. Right up there with Bo Jackson’s 30 for 30 and Michael Jordan’s Last Dance.

I never liked Robin Ventura. Even more of a douche not being interviewed for this.

Agree 100%. And it does make Ventura look like even more of a punk.

I knew Ryan had a lot of no hitters, but was amazed that he had no hitters in three different decades!

What the hell? Without looking at the stats--I don't know--in his best seasons, did the Cy Young Award winner have better stats than Ryan?

As a little kid, as a die-hard Cubs fan, I hated Ryan. When he pitched with the Astros, they owned the Cubs.

I really liked how the did the Ventura/Ryan incident in this documentary. Taking it all the way back to his incident with Dave Winfield and then of course Winfield got his dig in there on Ventura.

I wish they would have gotten Bo Jackson to chime in on the incident.

It was pretty comical when they were asking all the other players how many Cy Young’s he had.

I like ol’ Jackie Jack as much as anyone, but…that’s one of the worse songs I’ve ever heard Big Grin

With respect to the Cy Young, the documentary pointed to 1973 as a year that Ryan should have won the award. He finished 2nd to Jim Palmer and the balloting was very close.
