Your point escapes me, Kevin. Obviously, a woman cannot be James Bond...wait! Not yet, anyway. They ARE however assigning the code name 007 to a woman, after 57 years of James Bond, the franchise puts a pistol in its mouth. _______________________________________________________ despite them

The Left's insistence on a circular firing squad never ceases to amaze me. SJWs may find this entertaining, but I'd rather rearrange my sock drawer. You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless. NRA Benefactor/Patriot Member

I like the fan theory that "James Bond" is an assigned code name or alias just as "007" is an agent code number. This explains the different James Bonds over the decades. Given that explanation, it would stay within story-world logic to hand off James Bond 007 to someone other than a British White male; however, from a story-telling and movie-making standpoint, it's very risky to stray too far from the mold that the studio has perpetuated for over 55 years. Some less drastic examples, when Daniel Craig was first cast, many critics said he was too blond, too blue-eyed, and too short. Now he's considered second only to Connery's Bond. That's a gamble that paid off. When The Living Daylights (1987) was in production, the AIDS crisis was at its peak. Some critics said, it was irresponsible to promote a bed-hopping, womanizing Bond, given current social conditions. Consequently, Timothy Dalton was the new 007 and suffered from some poor writing where he had to be the more sexually conscious & cautious Bond. The movie did well at the box-office, but fans complained about the lack of bedding and Bond girls. When the next film came out, License to Kill, Dalton's Bond was back to his womanizing ways. I'm not too concerned about a Black female 007. At the end of the day, the movie business is still a business, and viewers will vote w/ their dollars. If they filmmakers want to stay in business, they will adjust accordingly.

Ok, my cynical side is coming through on this one. Anyone else think they're 'retiring' Bond instead of killing off the character so they can recycle James at some point after their SJW attempt to bastardize the character fails miserably in this next movie? And the new villain is quite the POS as well. He apparently made it very clear for him to be involved in this next movie, the villain character could have no religious, ideological, or political leanings. Nothing like actors dictating a script to the people making the movie. The producers of the next film should have sent his sorry ass right on down the road. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. On the surface, I'm not too worked-up over this. Bond/007 is a work of fiction brought to the screen by Hollywood or, whatever the British equivalent is...Pinewood Studios. I didn't care for the initial announcement of Craig as Bond, thought of him as too overbuilt, not suave or, debonair enough. That all changed after watching Casino Royale, one of the best in the 007 franchise. Now with this update, it's just another in a long-line of entertaining cannon's that have devolved upon the alter of equal outcomes. I would've been fine with a story like a supporting agent coming in to support Bond on a mission, they get involved in something deeper, Bond gets killed/maimed/badly wounded, and this character takes over, driven to avenge the loss of Bond, then growing into their own agent character. Instead, its sounding like Bond's getting called in, to be told he's hit mandatory retirement, you're an anachronism and here's your replacement, suck on it.

Actually, IMHO, they killed the "Bond, James Bond, Agent 007 with a license to kill," series. A female woman is not a James and where the designation of Agent 007 may be handed down from Mr. Bond, it would not be handed down to another James Bond - ESPECIALLY a "female." Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. everyone can try and spin it however they want.... if this is true, they have made James Bond a black female. I know I know I am a racist sexist bad man for not liking it. But I don't like it, so the 007 series I grew up with is dead. Maybe times have changed and James Bond is a cliche of himself as a character. Maybe there is just no more room for the suave tuxedo wearing man banging chicks and shooting evil organizations bent on world domination. Could be, but then let it die. Don't morph it into some PC bullshit. Make something new with a black female lead, fine. But leave 007 alone or kill it. Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day
