Too many to pick just one. The Searchers High Noon Outlaw Josey Wales Rio Bravo/El Dorado Didn't Henry Fonda also play a bad guy in Firecreek opposite good guy Jimmy Stewart? (with Inger Stevens as eye candy).

I'll watch any western, at least to get a feel for it, and even liked Silverado for a while. Favorite, though? If I can pick only one it is The Outlaw Josey Wales. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Lessee... Cowboy hat? Check! Cowboy boots? Check! Palomino? Check! Colt Peacemaker? Check! Yup, Pardner, it's a Western: -------------------------- Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. -- H L Mencken I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. -- JALLEN 10/18/18

Another vote for Rio Bravo/El Dorado. My favorite is whichever of the two I happen to be watching at the time . The John Ford Cavalry Trilogy, Rio Grande, Fort Apache and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon would round out my top five.

This always happens in these threads. The man asked for your favorite. That means one only. Why publish a long list of films? Tell us your favorite. That was the question. He even starts out by saying it's hard to pick one film.

My favorite is The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. As the OP said, it is hard to pick just one. "You know, Scotland has its own martial arts. Yeah, it's called Fuck You. It's mostly just head butting and then kicking people when they're on the ground." - Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers in "So I Married an Axe Murderer")

Hell, I'll drink a beer and watch any of those with you. Good choices. Anyone mention The Shootist? The one I can watch over and over is Support Your Local Sheriff. I always wait for my favorite line in the movie by Bruce Dern, "Oh, that's funny. That's real funny."

Might change next week, but today, my favorite is Stagecoach. "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965
