Think I will wait and see if anyone else comes out with a unit the will drop directly in to the HK trigger housing. I have heard the Franklin Armory on is hit or miss.

I SBR'ed a PTR. It has a Timney, I recommend. Regarding clones... It's about the trunnion, brendan. I sent mine to Ghilliebear, for a "heart transplant." It's got a real BT barrel and HK trunnion. Is this necessary for semiauto? Well, if you're gonna SBR it and want it to last, yes. Arc. ______________________________ "Like a bitter weed, I'm a bad seed"- Johnny Cash "I'm a loner, Dottie. Cuz I'm old school I paid sweet ducets for that stock.. so hot. The forearm was a gift. God I love the Mp5. Mine isn't real... but it's close enough. Like a hooker in vegas. Edited to add... I've spent plenty of time with the real thing, and my fave is the Ksd. The ergos of this thing make it magic to anyone who puts rounds down range, anyone shitting on it I doubt has shot it... so stfu... Can you tell me a bit more about this Ghilliebear business or point me in a good direction to read about it? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. His projects can be seen over on HKPro, and whenever I have had questions about costs or what work he can do I emailed or messaged him.

When I had my problems, I found out about him on HKPro, and I just picked up the phone and called him. He answered the phone, and we had a very informative, and pleasant, discussion. I would not hesitate in the least to ask for his help in the future, should the need arise.

Circling back to an old thread, but it seems MP5s never go out of style. Always thought MP5s were out of my range, but I came across a local selling an MKE AP5 for a really good deal and jumped on it. The original owner had an extension to 16" and a fake suppressor tack welded on rather go the brace or SBR route. My first thought was to spend $180 on a new barrel and sell the old one with the fake suppressor still welded on. Somebody somewhere wants a 16". I now see changing barrels is not really a DIY at home swap like an AR barrel and it will most likely have to be shipped off. 2nd option: I think a gunsmith can remove the tack welds and take this fake suppressor off for a reasonable price? Would that be the cheaper and simpler way to go? I realize I will have remove the stock or SBR to get below 16". I have a Spectre 9 to run on it when the fake suppressor comes off. I'm also looking at a dedicated can for it, CAT MOB, Milkman or the new Rugged Sub9 has my interest. Last point. Have you all seen this prototype ARHK drop in cassette FRT from AS Designs for SP5 and all the clone lowers? It will be available later this year. I looked into what it takes to get an FRT into a clone and the extra $500 for a new lower + an FRT really adds up. Now you don't have to. I'm sure this will be $500 all by itself, but you keep the OG look. This message has been edited. The first time I handled one, I was surprised by how heavy it was. Like you, they were always a grail gun for me. Not so much anymore but they are still the gold standard for smoothness in a PCC. Unmatched cool factor at the range as well. The iconic subgun.

The MKE guns seem nice. I have two that I have SBR'd. I don't know about removing the fake barrel but to be quite honest, I have not seen the above configuration. The advantage of the above is that it started out as a rifle so I wonder (don't think) the 922R restrictions apply which would be great! Swapping out a barrel seems like something you might have to send out to accomplish - not sure. Best of luck!

My quick research on barrel swaps are they have to go to someone with a hydraulic press and the correct jigs and it's in the $500 range. I don't really want to go that route. This started life as a pistol. First owner had it modified by a gunsmith like someone would Pin & Weld a 1.5" flash hider to a 14.5" AR15 barrel. In this case it is a 7" Pin & Welded muzzle device, with a fake suppressor that screws onto it. I'm thinking it could be undone by a gunsmith just like a 14.5" AR could be. Hopefully the threads can be cleaned up. Even if they can't clean the threads, my main goal would be to go 3 lug with a suppressor. If anyone knows of a great smith in Texas or Oklahoma, I'm all over both states every month. Or maybe I take it to D. Wilson in Colorado when I go this summer. It's probably not complicated to fix for someone that knows what they are doing. "The left can't applaud me because their hands are in other people's pockets." - Javier Milei

I grabbed one of the century MKE AP5-P and it’s been great suppressed and unsuppressed. Got it when they first came out for $800 and so glad I did. It scratches that MP5K PDW itch. I have a couple of B&T PCC’s and this has been as enjoyable as the B&T’s.
