Recommendation for a RDS mount on a Mini-14. Login/Join

I have been searching for a simple mount to attach a Trijicon MRO or similar RDS to a modern Mini-14. Any recommendations on this? Prefer to mount the RDS forward of the ejection port.

Most likely this will be a Picatiny rail, but a direct mount would be even better.

RogueJSK has a simple looking Pic rail mount about half way down this SF page, appears to be an Ultimak. What else is good?

I tried this one with the dedicated micro Burris FF mount and it was ok but the mounting screws were buggered easily (steel screws into aluminum). https://www.gggaz.com/ruger-mi...nts-and-mini-14.html

I agree with the Ultimak recommendation for your stated preferences.

I third the Ultimak recommendation. High quality and allows a co-witness of the irons.

I used one on an AK in Iraq as a contractor, so I certainly trust them. The AK was banged around in a vehicle a lot, no issues with the mount at all.

Ultimak is definitely your best bet.

Amega also makes a similar setup, but it's not nearly as popular or proven as Ultimak.

Thanks everyone. If RogueJSK affirms that Ultimak is the best choice, I know this advice is fully reliable.

Yea, don't know about that one. I have the Amega on a Mini and an Ultimak on an M1A. They both work. I mount the RDS as far forward on the Mini as it can go. It gives me a better field of view than mounting it back towards the receiver.
