I've seen this brand for sale on various online sites and occasionally at the local stores. For anyone who owns one, how is Howa's overall quality/accuracy?

I don't know how they are these days but in years past, Howa bolt action rifles were of superb quality, very underrated.

I only have an Arisaka, seemingly an older Howa rifle. They have a long history, reviews are rather good.

I believe the Weatherby Vanguard is a rebranded Howa. They are known for their accuracy.

I bought a Howa in .338 Win Mag when I lived in Alaska '09-'14. Quality was very good, it's accurate, and well priced.

I bought a Weatherby Vanguard (yes, same rifle) in .270 Win when I first moved back to Texas in '16. Quality is very good, it's accurate, and well priced.

I bought a 26" Howa Chassis Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor in '17. Quality is good, and is well priced for a long barreled chassis rifle. As far as accuracy, I shot steel at 900 yards with it.

I haven't bought one since '17, but haven't heard anything negative during that time either.

A few years back, I bought a Howa 1500 barreled action in .308 and put it in an MDT Oryx chassis. Very pleased with the setup.

they left out a bit, but I guess their contract business is not something they wanted known?


in addition to those mentioned, they also made the AR-180 for Armalite, as well as contract bolt guns and shotguns for S&W
