I was reading an old gun mag a few days ago and on the cover was a Les Baer .308 Semi-Auto Match rifle (AR10-style). Does anyone know if these are still in production?

A look at their website shows they no longer make any ARs. They’re back to their roots, making 1911s exclusively.

Thanks, Q. I figured maybe their website didn’t show everything. I seem to recall these being special-order items at one point, but maybe I’m wrong.

There’s a thread on Sniper‘s Hide that someone noticed the absence of rifles on their website. He called and got the confirmation that they were no longer making any. That was seven years ago. Hard to believe it’s been that long.

That's a shame. I guess I'll have to hunt down a second-hand one. Smile

If you only want a Les Baer named engraved on the receiver -- that's true.

If you're looking for a high-quality, very accurate, and very reliable AR10 -- there are a number of options.

That's very true. But I'll hold out for the LB anyway. They were built exactly as I would want them.

I haven't purchased a pre-built AR10 or AR15 in some time. There's a very talented gunsmith in my area who builds ARs and bolt actions to the level of the very best big-name national 'smiths. As in GAP, JP, Wilson Combat, KAC. I source the parts & drop them off at his shop, then he builds the rifle.

There are other talented 'smiths out there. Craddock Precision is one -- he chambered an AR10 Bartlein barrel for me.

You want a specific trigger or BCG? You want an uber accurate barrel, with the chamber optimized for a specific load? You want a specific stock, handguard, rail, receiver, grip? Acquire the parts and have the best put them together. As a bonus -- should you ever want to make changes, you don't have to deal with Les' infamously crabby customer service.
