I wanted one back in the day but the lower pic rail and non-US barrel threaded turned me off before the price (which was like double a Colt 6920 at the time). Once I realized I wanted one, prices had gotten nutty.

About two weeks ago, a guy on Arfcom had a NOS Manticore MLOK hg for sale which I had not known was a thing. Figured I'd snag it in case I ever found a rifle at a decent price (I had passed on a black rifle from a friend for a really good price because I wanted an FDE one...a mutual friend's dad bought it). Figured if I never found one, I'd offer to my other buddy's dad who goes on gun runs with us for collectibles.

Apparently the guy selling the HG had given up finding a rifle. That same morning, I found one listed on GB with a Steiner 3x optic for a BIN or Make Offer deal; made a low-ball offer taking into account the value of the optic plus total delivered price w/ taxes etc. I randomly checked Guns.com for one and low and behold, an FDE one. *bangs head* Eek . It was a great price and had the original sights too (the black one did not) so I grabbed it.

A day later, sho'nuff....dude accepted my lowball offer on the black one. Luckily, I had a set of iron sights from a Bren 2 Carbine I had sold to a friend (I also have a 14" Bren 2 p/w with DA suppressor on it). Anyways, enough of the back story....N+1 is life so now I'm covered lol. Both are 1/2-28 rifles and I also ordered some KNS stuff for them...oversized charging handles and keymod lower replacement rail (no need for keymod but will be less annoying than a pic rail on the bottom).

Very nice. I looked at the Bren 2s but I struggle with the waffle looking magwell.

These are both very attractive, nice pick up(s).

Haga Defense has an alloy lower for the Bren 2's...but it uses AR15 parts to include the grip. I happen to like the factory lower, aesthetics aside

Very nice, looks much more SCAR like, than AR15.

Modular design like flowed from the SCAR requirements and AR18 operating design (short piston, gas action with integral recoil assly)

Very nice! Looking forward to the range report. CZ makes a fine rifle, love my Bren 2. I also had no idea Manticore made an Mlok handguard for the 805.

There was a guy on a Washington forum who had one listed for sale early last year in a 14" for $1,300 - the whole kit with a brace and a stock, so just add paper. Really should have just jumped on that one.

Post it up! Smile
I've actually been thinking pretty hard about grabbing a 14" and doing the P/W. Love the gun in an 11" and wouldn't mind having a second that I don't have to paper. 14" would give a little more zing.

Me too, at first. Felt that way about the factory stocks as well. I got used to it pretty quickly, though. Now I think the odd patterns are kind of charming in their way.

He also made two versions of polymer lowers. I have, I think, the first version. Haven't done anything with it yet, either. I want to build it up complete with it's own parts and not migrate everything from the stock lower, but the thing holding me back is a takedown pin. KNS lists one on their site, but they haven't been in stock in a long time. Without that, there's no point adding anything to it. I need to email HBI and ask if they're willing to do it. Hell, I'll loan them mine to duplicate.

I dunno what PGT paid, but I'm routinely seeing used examples pop up for about $1,500 at about the median, with $1,100 being the cheapest I've seen. If you want a Bren of either flavor, there's no guarantee they'll keep importing them. Once that stops, the used market is going to go up, probably a fair bit.

I've never seen a Bren for sale less than $1500. Typically, they're $1500-2300 or so, depending on venue. The FDE Bren S1's were going for $3k+ a year or more ago but have settled considerably.

Same reason I have 2 ARs in my safe.
I've never handled a SCAR or Bren, so no fever here, and no empty-wallet syndrome Big Grin

The one I saw that cheap had HBI everything and was painted. So, no collector value, but a great deal on a shooter.
