So, it was a six stage all-classifier. I was going to shoot my G19, but a friend who was going loaned me the top end off his G17, so I got to try the GPT trigger in my G17 frame at the match. I like it. When shooting on the clock, I don't even recall the trigger, so it was feels like it gets out of the way more than the factory trigger does. I also don't visually recall my sight picture for most of the match, either, and that was shooting irons. With any luck, this will be my last match shooting Limited for some time unless I specifically choose to. Carry Optics for me going forward! I shot a lot better overall than I could have. I'm definitely seeing improvement. I don't get jitters, I don't get the heart rate and anxiety stuff anymore. My reloads are pretty fast and pretty clean, I think the biggest thing to work on is a repeatable draw and consistent grip, then getting as fast on the trigger as I can. Oh, and I definitely need some 'stendo baseplates. One of the stages was Righty Tighty (22-01), and I started left, went right, then advanced on the front targets for the last three shooting strong hand on the move. No misses, no no-shoots, 12 A, 5 C, 1 D, but my time wasn't amazing because I slide locked with one round left to put on the last target and it somehow caught me by surprise and I had to reload. I just didn't even think to count it up during the stage planning and loaded a 17rd mag in the gun. ![]() On that note, I've had two failures with Glock +2 baseplates and don't trust them anymore. One was dropping a loaded magazine on the bedroom floor and every last piece flying all over the room in a shower of ammo. Never did find the follower or the inner piece to the baseplate, even when we moved. Match before last, I dropped an empty out of my gun and when I picked it up, the baseplate had dislodged. That was on a fresh Gen 5 body, spring and follower, too. I got recommendations to buy the Taran baseplates from some of the guys, but I didn't feel like spending Taran Tactical bucks and ordered three Strike EMP's to try out. Yeah, I know, buy once, cry once and all that. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

Taran Tactical has a 20% off sale for almost every holiday. Expect to see it around labor day. Honestly, though, 21 round Glock PMAGs for $18 or whatever they charge are about a 90% solution for less than half the cost of most extensions. Also not sure if you're a USPSA member, but if you aren't, check out hitfactor.info to look up current high hit factors for the classifiers you shot if you want to calculate what your classification would be.

Those P Mags are about what there is for a one piece 140mm. I don't understand why Glock brought out a 24 shot magazine, it is too long for IPSC or USPSA.

I haven’t bothered with the Glock Pmags because I hear such mixed stuff about them, but I might give some of those 21’s a try. Not a USPSA member. Yet, anyway. I wanted to get the gear dialed in enough to start really seeing if I can get to a point where I can assess my potential before I spent the coin. Two trashed knees mean I’m basically never going to be fast enough to be truly competitive, it’s just mainly to get better under pressure against the clock. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

On the Glock +2 Years ago, my ex was driving and we stopped for gas. She had a 26 on her ankle with a +2. She banged it on the car getting out and I heard “clang” and then the sound of all 12 rounds rolling across the concrete. I stopped using them after that.

I've read all of the mixed reviews, too, but I've probably got two dozen of them, they get used, and they work. I think you get a lot of high opinion, low commitment input on the internet.

Ugh, so true. I trust you, I’ll pick up several to try out. Thanks for the tip. ![]()
Yeesh. Yeah, sample size of two baseplates here and both of them screwed up on me. I stopped using them for carry after that ammo shower, and now I don’t trust them for gun games, either. In the parts bin of misfit toys they go. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

I shot two locals this week. On Tuesday I went and shot a fairly large weekly match about two hours away. Shot a 72% classifier (09-10) which was a little disappointing. It was what I would call "GM speed, B hits" where, had it been all Alpha, it would have made roughly 95%, but it was not. Had some other mistakes including an uncalled miss (obviously if it was called, you would make it up, right?) and a mag pouch failure that resulted in me losing a spare mag and having to reload off of a partial from the ground that ended up one round short of enough to finish the stage. Ended up 13/53 and 4/19 in carry optics. The second local was a smaller monthly match about an hour away. I make it to this one every month and am generally "in the hunt." I had gone to the range in the early afternoon and had a really frustrating 580 round training session so I didn't really know what to think. I ended up crushing the match and ending up with a roughly 10% win. There were only 17 shooters. I won one of the stages by 17% by running the exact opposite stage plan as almost everybody else. Pretty happy with that. I have three matches in three days at the end of the month so I'm looking forward to the pace there as I've got four majors between mid-August and early October.

I shot the local IDPA match yesterday. My time wasn’t great, but all my shots were on the targets. The only booger of the day (for me) was that I didn’t have the magazine fully inserted at the start of the third stage. Recovering from that cost me a couple of seconds. Hot and sweaty? Yes. Great fun? Also yes. ![]() God bless America.
