Who has a Manurhin MR 73? What do you think about it? I'm a auto loader guy, but I have an appreciation for a nice, quality revolver.

I have a Smith & Wesson model 10 Military & Police Royal Hong Kong Police trade in that has had a basic trigger "job" done to it, that is it's been stoned and smoothed out and it has an excellent feel. It's super smooth, and feels much lighter than it really is.

Well, that being said, the Manurhin MR 73 has caught my eye. But one problem, it's like $3,000.00!

I'm not against paying that kind of money, if, and I mean IF it's worth it.

So, is it worth the squeeze? It's a beautiful looking revolver, and by all information it's strong, and accurate. But my question is it really worth it? I would love to hear from people that have one what they really think about it.

I'm thinking about a 3" or 4" barrel, leaning towards the 3" because it would be an all around gun, with carry being a definite use.

So, what say you? Is it really worth it? Are you happy with your purchases? Any regrets? Honest opinion.

Things for your prospective.

I have a 3 inch and a 5 1/4 inch current production and a 4 inch fixed sight that I bought used.
All have great triggers, even though the trigger can be easily adjusted I have no seen the need to do that.
All have very nice blue finish, I have not carried any in holster to see how blue holds up.

I’ve owned a few over the years and ended up selling them at a profit. I’m not really a revolver guy, but they are outstanding

Beautiful revolvers! The MR73 looks
especially sexy with the wood grips!

I saw one years ago for a good price but passed on it. Just recently I saw another one and for some reason it appealed to me like no other revolver has in a long time.

It was a 3" barrel with the synthetic grips. But that price!

I know the history, and specs. of the Manurhin MR 73. That's another thing that appeals to me. But again the price.

I would have no problem paying it if I truly thought it was worth it. But I don't know anyone personally that has one to get their opinion on it. I'm hoping that I can find someone that has had long term experience with the MR73 and have shot it a lot and hear from them if they were happy with it.

It looks like RFSALES is happy enough to have more then one!

I owned one a long time ago and wouldn't pay $3K given other options. You can find some limited info here, as part of a former thread on Korth:

As you can see from the comments, I would go with a Spohr instead at the referenced price.

I just wish I could find one of those Trausch grips for a S&W because of that added bulk up top so the revolver stays planted in my hand.

I had one but sold it. There were a few changes in the ownership and therefore I was concerend but spare/replacement parts. I bought a nice S&W Mod. 66, although over fifty years old, lots of spare and tuning parts available.

Hogue will make a custom grip for you in any one of a number of beautiful hardwoods.

I find that Herr Trausch is since deceased and nobody to take over making those grips.

I came across one this past weekend at a LGS. I think it was a 5.25" barrel model and looked to be in mint condition. It was priced at $4999.
