If only two, I think it would be a Glock 17 and a pre-lock Model 60.

Glock 19 (and yes, G26 will also do), and Ruger LCP.

One or the other cover everything for me for CCW.

If it’s only two, I’d have to say a CCW, like my SA Hellcat and maybe my Glock 21 for home defense.

I am primarily a shooter/owner for pleasure so it’s a difficult question especially for the second pistol.

1st- HK P2000 without hesitation. Home defense, carry, fun for me to shoot and own, it will last for damn ever. It’s my primary defensive firearm and has been for a long time. A tad smaller than a Glock 19 and easier to carry. So a P2000 in 9mm.

2nd- This is a hard one. The practical side of me says Glock 45 or 19 MOS. Optics ready to future proof, lots of parts, versatile, etc. it’s a practical choice, but screw practical. Smile. I only have 2 pistols and my first can do really anything practical. So that leaves me with either……….

P7M8, the perfect gun geek gun yet still perfectly practical if need be or

Wilson Beretta Cent. Tactical I just really love this gun. Parts will be available forever. Reliable, looks good feels good.

Honestly I’m torn between those two for my #2 spot.

And if we stick with this only 2 thing and I extrapolate it out to my normal carry.
2 knives only.
1-Swiss Champ (this was a tough one but the Champ does it all for me)
2-Spyderco Para 3

2 lights
1-Malkoff 1AA. Not the brightest but bomb proof and gives me a nice low low mode and common battery options
2-SureFire Tactician with a 16650 and Malkoff tail. Gives me a dual fuel option, a good low and high, great beam and is small enough to carry. I can use the head on the 1AA body above with a 14500 as well so, while a hard choice. This light gets it.

So there is my “can only have 2” carry/HD choices across the board. I don’t like this game. Frown

Tough not to go with my P320 and P365, but I’ve really found the M&P 2.0 line to be my go to. For that reason my Performance Center 4.25” in 40, and my 4” Performance Center Shield in 40 would be my choices. Three caliber capabilities in pistols that are some of the most natural shooting pistols I own, not to mention super grippy texture.

P228 as primary carry. In a year my 365XL may supplant it, but I’m more confident with my P228, and it is still a better range/shoot for fun gun.

Secondly, as a pure range gun, P210A. I have Swiss & German P210s as well, but if I can only keep one, the American is 95% of the gun, and is in current production, so I feel less bad about putting lots of wear on it.

SP-101 and a P-239. It wouldn’t take much to trade the P-239 for a 10mm 1911.

Why must you ask us to go through such a mean thought process? Big Grin

I'll limit it to 'two brands', Sig and S&W.

I want to throw a 1911 in, but if I'm being realistic it would be...

- Glock 19 Gen5 MOS
- Glock 42

Those two guns would just do everything I need.
