First, a class action suit was dismissed. Then MANCHESTER, N.H. — A federal jury in Maine said there were no defects in Sig Sauer's P320 in a case involving an unintended discharge of the firearm. The jury considered product liability, negligence, and breach of implied warranty, and ruled unanimously in favor of Sig Sauer. The case follows the dismissal of a class action lawsuit against Sig Sauer. https://www.wmur.com/article/s...charge-jury/73439242

Huh. Imagine that. Crazy what happens when the issue is decided by neutral parties using objective facts rather than knee-jerk reactions based on clickbait headlines and YouTube videos/Reddit posts from self-proclaimed "gun experts"

Unfortunately, it was not only the BS media that was responsible for the idiocy that led to the death of one of the best pistols ever developed. People who accept and perpetuate lies based on hysterical stupidity (i.e., wilful ignorance) are just as much at fault, if not more so, than those who start them. ► 6.0/94.0 “Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.” — Plato

1) Its a good gun 2) I carry an issued one every day and have no problems with it 3) The sensationalism was over the top nonsense 4) Putting screws in the trigger mechanism and then getting the striker to drop on a primed case? Yeah, real Einstein stuff brother 5) The American GI can break an anvil. Getting these into the hands of hundreds of thousands of soldiers/marines/air men, is how you work out the kinks and find any problems. Which they have been doing. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

And I am still not going to buy, or own any SIG P320, SIG P365, or any Glock. There, I said it. (those without a manual safety) Why? At least for me and MY point of view, The P320, P365, and Glocks, is just like holster carrying a 1911 fully loaded, hot chamber, manual safety OFF, and grip safety pinned down. (deactivated) For me, that's a HARD NO. NRA Benefactor Life Member NRA Instructor USPSA Chief Range Officer

^^ I think in much the same way you do about striker-fired pistols and manual safeties, but (as I understand it) the presence or absence of manual safeties never had anything to do with all the brouhaha about the P320 being a safe pistol.

Admittedly, I made a sharp pivot from striker during the 320 fur-ball for the same reasons. In fact, when I came to the decision, I was bewildered at why I hadn't always felt this way. Unless I find myself back with the P7, the striker is in the rear view mirror for me. I do NOT believe there is a design flaw in the P320. But I do feel the striker design (as described above) is a compromise I need not make. Striker pistols are not unsafe, but I see them as less forgiving of manual handling and inputs in the heat of the moment. I moved back to the classic P226/P228 and a P938 for more concealed needs.

I'm a "cocked and locked" person so the P365 with manual safety is what I carry. I would not carry a striker fired pistol that lacks one other than my P7M8. @ r0gue, More than 20 years ago, I was shooting at a local range, action pistol, bowling pin & steel plates match. One of the other competitors was a Sheriffs Department corrections division dude. He holstered his issued .45ACP Glock with his trigger finger inside the trigger guard, and surprise, an accidental/negligent discharge. Yes, totally his fault and mistake. Not enough training, or practice, and some flawed core gun handling safety skills, or just plain missing skills. The guy dropped to his knees, and his buddies carried him back behind the firing line and cut off the right leg of his blue jeans. Being Sheriffs Department people, they had some first responder training. Initially, the upper leg wound appeared to be a "graze" wound. Virtually zero skin damage and blood at the graze wound. The Deputy walked off the range under his own power, limping, but walking without assistance and drove away in his personal vehicle. Later from a buddy who was a BOD Member at that particular range, the Deputy who had the AD/ND had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night. Severely swollen right leg and ankle and bad ankle pain which resulted in X-rays of the leg in the emergency room. The projectile had penetrated the skin at the bottom of the belt holster, and was lodged near the ankle. It had stayed under the skin from the bottom of the belt holster, until lodging still under the skin near the ankle. The Deputy was medically retired and never worked again, and almost lost the leg. I personally read the blurb in the local newspaper about that ending for that event, and witnessed the beginning of the event at the range. That right there was the reason I never had much interest in Glocks. The only safety was the dingus in the trigger, which the Deputy depressed with the holstering of the pistol and his trigger finger inside the trigger guard. SIG P320 and P365 pistols don't even have the dingus in the trigger. Anyone that wants to own and shoot that style/type of striker fired handguns is fine by me, knock yourself out and buy them all up, just don't shoot me when you have your AD/ND. Nobody ever plans to have an AD/ND, and nobody ever plans to have a momentary lapse in their gun handling safety skills. But it still happens occasionally. I don’t like the P320 and would never trust it. I think the military adopting a derivative of it was a mistake.

Told cops where to go for over 29 years…![]() |
Hmmm, Glocks, HK VP-9, P320's, P365's, I've had them all at one time or another. Never had a ND or AD with any of them. Never had one with my P7M8, 1911's, P938, P22X's, revolvers, or anything else either. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe I learned to pay attention when playing with dangerous things. I had a neighbor shoot himself "accidentally" with a revolver while practicing his quick draw standing in front of a mirror (in his underwear no less Keep your booger hook off the bang switch till you want to make noise. Yep. Software issue, not hardware. "I saw a guy do something dumb at a shooting range 20+ years ago" is a real flimsy reason to outright write off a huge chunk of the handgun world. If he had holstered his finger with a DA classic Sig or a DAO Seecamp it would have had the same effect. Better swear off all those too, I suppose. (Though that would involve a username and CUT change.) Even manual safeties aren't a solution for poor gun handling. Remember the infamous "Tex Grebner" video back in the day of the autistic guntuber shooting himself with his 1911 on camera? Thumb safety didn't save him there. Guess we can write off all those type of guns too. So what does that leave us... Pointy sticks? Wait, I bet someone has jabbed themselves with a pointy stick at some point, so those are right out as well.

Agree 100%. However, I'm also a bit concerned with how a person practices his "quick draw" while in his underwear. Where does he draw it FROM? ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.
