Just picked up a W. German P226 9mm in the Yellow box with matching numbers on all parts, manual, and factory test target paper. Rolled Herndon on slide. Cool

Mine is a p226 .40 ST that starts with U 723 xxx...does that mean it's a 2004 manufacture? The test casings say 2006 on the envelope (or was it 07?) but it looks to be made in 04. So did Sig keep it kicking around for a while before test firing it and selling it?

I'm looking to buy an older P220. Something has me confused. What modifications were made after G 211 299? Was it just the hammer, because I have a link to a G 214 XXX numbered gun with the old hammer.

Anyway,
here's my contributions;

P228 9mm, factory nickel Slide/Frame/Controls. Serial # B 192 XXX -KD

P226 9mm, factory nickel Slide/Frame/Controls. Serial # U 537 XXX -KF

P226 9mm, Standard black finish. Serial # U 457 XXX -KB

P6 9mm, Standard black finish. Serial # M 498 XXX dated 6/82. PW Arms import markings.

I uploaded that photo at the suggestion of another member, and had no clue who originally put it together. It is an excellent and simple depiction for explaining the proofs.

If you'd like me to remove it, or put a note of credit/thanks in the original post, please let me know.

I appreciate how the Intertubez works, and my stuff is out there under "Creative Commons License," and this falls into that category - in fact I should Thank-you for the compliment of re-posting it! :-)
Anyhow, I was just surprised to see it elsewhere and glad it's here to help people who like Sigs as much as I do. Cheers!

My post may have sounded a bit more dry than intended. Smile

Just making sure no toes are stepped on.

People have actually copied my original post on here *word for word*, and pasted it in on other forums to start similar serial number threads.

Credit has been attributed whatever the case.

Cheers.
