That's a sweet pistol, right there. I had a stainless Colt Enhanced Commander myself in .38 Super back in the early 90s. As I've done far too many times, I sold it. I wish Colt would offer their enhanced pistols again. They were just above minimalist but they functioned great and looked fantastic.

I carried some type of .45ACP pistol for a long time but have long since switched to smaller caliber carry guns. I still shoot .45ACP at the outdoor range quite a bit and always keep the ammo stocked. I've been thinking hard about picking up an HK45C, so if that happens, I may carry it from time to time.

That is sharp looking.

This one shares time with my P365 as my EDC.

I carry a P-220 DAK 45 ACP usually.
Last gun I bought was a S&W Model 22, 45 ACP.

I sold my last 45, a stainless Commander, today. Still got quite a lot of pretty fresh 45 ammo, so a lightweight Commander MIGHT be something I'd be interested in, but they seem pretty scarce around here.

The gun I sold was almost perfect-just one little flaw, it was soooooo heavy I hated to carry it. I wear shorts almost every day (Florida) and usually don't wear a belt, preferring those under my shirt suspenders. The gun was so heavy it made my suspenders sag and left me in danger of getting arrested for exposing myself (not really-but felt like it).

So-it's gone.

To me it's pretty simple-I have witnessed what a .45 ACP and 9mm Para do in action. When I carry, it is a .45 ACP.

Do they make a 46? Cool

No, they make a .50. The problem is the $3,595.00 price tag.

We all know WHY 9mm is the best choice right now. But if you still make a good choice, you're fine. Don't worry that much about it.

You are correct that the 9mm is the best right now until we have another Miami incident and law enforcement looks at something else.

I own an M&P 2.0 in 9mm, but the only time it comes out of the safe is when I take it to the range, otherwise, it's a P229 in .40 or 357 SIG or my 1911 in .45ACP that see carry duty.

With a couple of exceptions (Glock 30 and Springfield XD), my .45's are 1911s. They have all been relegated to range guns. I'm not buying any new .45's. But I'm keeping those I have because I enjoy shooting them.

Caliber discussions (which often lead to arguments) are kind of lost on me. Each caliber is good, has its own merits. The abandonment of .40 by law enforcement agencies has been a plus for me. Lots of barely used, inexpensive quality guns on the used market. I hope the FBI changes their mind again a couple of years from now and adopts the 5.7x28. Surplus 9's for sale!

But since you mentioned carry... If you are talking EDC, especially IWB I'd be inclined to go with 9mm. There are so many excellent choices today. Small, light, 10-12 rounds. You can't go wrong.

Gents,

I don't care about caliber. Mostly it's a .45 ACP, but I also use the 9mm, .38 Super, and .357 Sig.

Don't get hung up on caliber...placement is everything.

I carry a old spur hammer 220 or a plain Jane 1991 stainless Colt when I go .45 acp. I forgot to add that I use 230 gn fmj also. I have asked many morgue monsters if they or any of their friends from any other agency's that can find me a thru and thru from a fmj in .45 acp that hurt a bystander behind the perp if the round over penetrated. So far no one can find a documented event. VI...

9x19 is King for me. I do have a Stoeger 8045 and if I carried it, it would be stoked with Winchester 185gr. Silvertips.

Nothing too exotic here. I used to carry a XDS .45 due to size and caliber. Now I carry a M&P 2.0 Compact 9mm due to size and capacity.

My carry pistol is a P220 with thin grips. I've carried it for years and love it. I carry a full size pistol simply because I shoot it well. That alone makes it worth it. Right now, it's at the vet, so I'm carrying a P226. I prefer carrying the P220. Only because I've set it up for that. The grips on the 226 are wide enough I worry about printing and the extra magazines tend to dig in my side while driving. Also, with a loaded P226 and two extra magazines I've got 46 rounds of ammunition. Feel like I should be on my way to help out at the Alamo. That's a lot of firepower.
