These things are totally subjective but, when holstered in the same holsters, the 48 is substantially less concealable for my needs and preferences. Thickness is really non-issue but grip length is. Pretty certain it won't replace my 43, although I will probably make a 43L and 43x+RDS out of my 43 and 48.

Agreed, tons of gun youtubers bashed the G19X, then shot it and ate crow, admitting it was great.

Personally I don't understand the longer slide types on smaller frames, ala G17 slide on a G19 frame. Like the extra 1/2" of sight radius and 15FPS is gonna win the day for ya. Then again Glock isn't making those, so maybe they know something... Wink

Agree 100%^. The G19 as is couldn’t be better in my book, it’s just a handy efficient package. The longer 17 slide may not make the gun harder to conceal but to me it sure makes it less comfortable. It’s totally personal preference and I don’t knock anyone for what they choose. The last thing I imagine I would ever do is cut the grip off of my G17.

Staying on subject though, the G43X is on my list when the black ones come out!

I picked up a 48 on Tuesday and put 300 rounds through it yesterday. I like it. Very slim and 10rds is plenty. Nice trigger. Not crazy about slide color. Wish mags were available now.
Another range trip tomorrow, and, when the holster arrives it becomes EDC.

Fondled the G48 today.
-Grip's thinnest, great.
-Grip length, great.
-Grip's traction, not so great. Never liked the G43's grip. A bit too slippery for me.

I still would like to get the G43X, however. No doubt it will conceal better than the G19. Not that I have a hard time concealing the G19. But, with the thinner grip and shorter barrel of the G43X, and still have 10+1 rounds at your disposal is a big plus.

Holding out for a black slide...or the mysterious HK single stack 9, whichever comes first.

I had the chance to handle the Glock 48 at Keystone Shooting Center today... felt good, no rental yet...

Drove over to INPAX range, they had the 48 and 43X for sale, handled both... I like the 48, but that is me. No rental either.

I gave both places my suggestion that maybe a 48 in the rental case would be a good idea...

Interested in the 48, but only after shooting one. I can wait... (yeah right! Wink)

I handled the G43X and G48.
The G48 is very similar to my Kahr CW9.

I picked up my new Glock 48 a couple days ago and had an opportunity yesterday to make a range trip. I fired 400 trouble free rounds of 115 grain FMJ and had very acceptable accuracy. I really like this G48 as it is thin, lite, give a full grip purchase and the 4"+ barrel allows for good ammo ballistics. The configuration of the G48 has always been my preferred profile for a handgun. I'll pickup a couple extra magazines and a couple holsters and I'll be done. The G48 is what I have wanting and waiting for!

I picked up a 43x today and put about 75 rounds through it. It would fail to feed every 2-3 rounds. As it stripped the next round it would hang up before it went back into battery. I good knock on the back of the slide with my off hand would send it forward. I also noticed the slide would stay slightly back when I held the trigger back after a shot. When I released the trigger the slide would go forward.

The gun is very accurate and I shot it well. 147 grain HSTs were a little stout but the thicker grip made it easy to hang on to. I’m going to clean it up good and try again tomorrow. This gun didn’t have the usual copper grease and was very dry. I think between that and the mag springs being really stiff it was enough to bind everything up. I really like the gun and hope I can get it straightened out.

Update: I wiped it down but didn’t clean it good. I put a drop of oil in the trigger group and greased it good. In 25 rounds I had no problems. I did notice there were wear marks on the steel frame chassis points that I have not seen on a glock before. I’ll check my others later to see if they have the same wear. It may be normal and I just hadn’t noticed it.

I’ve never had to “grease” a Glock. Usually just a couple drops of oil on the slide rails, a drop on each frame rail points, thin coat on the barrel exterior and a drop on connector, which is more than the Glock recommendation.
I’d scrub it out good with Hoppes no. 9 and inspect the slide rails. If all looks good, no burrs or anything, light lube with oil and try again with a couple hundred rounds. If it doesn’t run 100% after that I’d send it back to Glock because it ain’t right. Keep us posted. Good luck.

Update:
I got the flu last week, so wasn't able to put many rounds through it until today.
Total 1,200 rounds so far.
No issues, no failures to report.

The trigger on the stock 48 frame is pretty amazing. I don't own any gen5 guns, but from what I've read this is pretty standard. I've toyed with getting yet another overwatch precision tac trigger for the 48 frame, but since I won't be carrying it in its standard configuration then I don't see a need unless I develop a burning desire to throw away some money.

I did get some night sights for the 48 slide.

I will be bending some kydex this week and start carrying the 48/43 hybrid.

The gun is definitely less snappy than the 43. That little bit of increased slide mass is certainly the culprit.

It is a very accurate pistol for a Glock. I'm able to easily clear a Dot torture in less time than with the 43 at 7 yards, and follow up splits are 0.15 sec faster.

The 48 frame is still much more comfy than the 43 frame. Someone earlier mentioned the 'hump' on the 43 frame and this is certainly the reason why it feels less comfy shooting with the 43 frame.

I've also noticed that the slide is harder to charge from closed position on a full mag compared to the 48 slide on the 48 frame. I broke it down and checked--no signs of any dragging or scratches anywhere. Not sure what causes this.

The stock 6 round 43 mags have really weak and shitty springs compared to other Glock mags. I always forget about this until I put rounds through them. They haven't failed to feed, but it is a bit disconcerting.

With the 43 frame and a Pearce +1 grip extender, it is still shorter than the 48 frame with the 10 round mag.

The silver slide is growing on me. It makes for easier cleanup.

I'll report back after I make a holster for it, and get the tritiums installed.
