I got a 48 today. Handled the 43X and thought it was as ridiculous as the 19X.
Dealer said these weren't supposed to drop until SHOT show, but he let me have one early.

The gun as stock feels great in hand. I thought initially it would be essentially a single stack 19 but it feels like a totally different gun due to the grip size, weight reduction and overall width.

I put just a few rounds through (124gr +P FMJ) and it ran without any initial hiccups. Then I swapped slides and ran a few precursory rounds before shooting a single dot torture drill. Again no malfs. I will put a few hundred through the gun this weekend weather permitting.

As stock:

With the 43 frame and the 48 slide. I dub it the '43L':

The 48 frame with the 43 slide. Now it looks like a black 43X:

So much copper lube. I'll be getting rid of the crappy sights soon and replace them with some tritiums.

Made in Austria, not Georgia:

The 10 round mag sits a bit proud of the frame on the 48.

My main reason for wanting the 48 was to have a longslide 43. Mission accomplished.

I still think Glock screwed the pooch by not adding a light rail to the 43, and hence to the 48/43X. Well, and the 26 also.

I didn't think I'd like a plain finished/silver slide on a Glock. But it's growing on me.

Update this weekend.

Awesome. That’s exactly why I’m getting the 48! You did just what I’m planning. I’m glad to see it works as I thought.

thanks for the pictures and report. The black 43x is really what i wanted all along. I have the 43x on order but may get a 48 as well. why not.

Does anyone carry magazines yet? i've not seen any on the market as of earlier in the week.

Thanks again

Regards,

P.

I didn't see any spare mags at the LGS.
I did ensure that the slide would fit a 43 frame at the store before purchasing.

I'll be running some JHP's through it this weekend. And if successful will make some kydex for it in the 43L configuration.

Is the finish like any other Glock pistol? I was wondering if they would ever make a 2 tone pistol. It is cool you can swap slides/frames.

I picked up a 43X at the LGS today, it felt really good in my hand. I need to find a 48 as the slide length makes more sense....to me.

I have fairly short fingers and have cut back on all of my G19s and G17s to fit me better. The 48/43X grip really feels nice...similar to the P225 IMHO, without the mag lip that I hate.

It feels a little flatter/grippier than the black gen 5 finish. That is, less slick. I don't mind the two-tone look at all, so given the "less slick" factor, I actually prefer this finish to the gen 5 black.

I like both, but I must say, the 43X balances better. It's just like a G17 vs a G45. The long grip and short slide feels well balanced and fast when handling it. I'm going to bet the 43X has faster transitions by a noticeable amount than the 48 when I get the shot timer out.

Can't wait to hear the range report. I really dig the full grip. I've never been fond of the two finger thing.

I like that you can "mix & match" the slide & barrels and frames kind of like with the P320. I really like my 320 & 365 but would like something similar from Glock, which now there is. I may pick up a 48 and 43 to be able to do just this.

I’ll get some pics up tomorrow as I’m heading out to dinner, but I checked really quit, the 43x/48 mag is the exact same thickness as the P365 mag.

Clearly Glock’s clutching to a polymer mag has gimped the capacity of the 43x/48.

If anyone who has experience with both can comment on how well the concealment goes with the G48 vs G26 (given an equal capacity), that would be nice.

Thanks for the pics.

Do you have a 19 or 26 to take side by side pictures with?

Not an Apex. It's an Overwatch Precision Tac trigger. Love them, and have them on all of the Glocks I use regularly.
I do have an old Apex on my 26, which I rarely carry anymore.

NATO rounds are not as hot as 9mm +P rounds.
