I agree that the "crack" is too loud and would be a problem firing indoors without hearing protection. I think people forget about this aspect because we usually use hearing protection when shooting at the range, but the .357 Sig has an ear splitting "crack" similar to 357 mag. As terminally effective as both of those cartridges are, firing a couple of rounds indoors without hearing protection is not something I want to ever do. I fired one round at the range several years ago after forgetting to put my ear protection on and my ears rang for a week. While almost any round will hurt your ears without protection, the 357 Sig and 357 mag are in a different category.

Ten years with a P229 in 357SIG as a duty weapon. I'm a huge fan of the round, and still alternate a P239SAS as a carry gun (sourced a 357 barrel from an incredibly helpful member here). The recoil impulse is more of a snap than a "push" and not unpleasant to shoot. Somewhere I have some pretty convincing post-mortem photos from a few shootings with the round. My first response was "Crap, a handgun did that?"

One of my favorites. Also still have a gen4 Glock 31 and of course a P229 SAS in 357 Sig. _____________________

That's interesting! I thought the Glocks in this caliber were stamped "357AUTO" or just "357". I never had an issue with the cost of the round; I reloaded my own for years. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. In the mid 90’s I knew a fellow that was a security guard. He carried a personally owned Glock 31. In self defense, he shot and killed an armed aggressor with one round of 357 Sig HP. Last year I bought a Sig P239 that came with 40 and 357 Sig barrels. I feel comfortable carrying the P239 in either caliber. Lock N Load Michael USMC Ret

The first Sig I ever bought was a 229 with a 40 S&W barrel and 357 Sig barrel. 357 Sig is a hell of round. It just got to hard to find any on the shelf, and when you did it cost an arm and a leg

The costs for 357 SIG ammo can be high, but if you shop around you can probably find LEO trade in ammo that isn't too bad. That's what I did. The trade in ammo is usually Speer Lawman 125 grain TMJ. You can sometimes find Speer Gold Dot trade in ammo too at a decent price.

My understanding is that there were only a few gen2 32's produced with the 357 SIG stamp produced before Glock dropped the "SIG". The only info I know about on the rarity of that marking is here: Glock 32 Gen2 _____________________

^^^^^^ This. Over the past few years I've found several K's of 357Sig posted on "Billy Bob's BangBang Boutique". Also over the past few years at a few different vendors some PPU brand shows up at close-out,bargain prices. The last I found were at Aim Surplus and S&G ammo. _____________________

I bought some a couple years back, noticing the different lot numbers, and called Speer. AIM was selling Speer's #54234, SGA selling #53918. Ballistics were identical, but according to Speer, 54234 shot 3" groups at 75 feet, 53918 shot 1-3/4" groups at 75 feet. I have some of each, not a great amount, but I'm saving the 54234 for practice and 53918 for carry. After reading this thread, I think I'll change my P-229 to 40 cal for home defense! Is it just me, or do others think the fireball produced by the .357 Sig is, like the sound, a fine reason to shoot it? _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

I’ve always enjoyed the round in different Sigs and Glocks. KKM made me a barrel for my 5th Gen G23 and it’s an outstanding carry piece. The one that gets everyone’s attention is a S&W .40 Shield that I sourced a .357 Sig barrel from these guys, https://www.tr-enabling.com/pr...p-mps-40-357c-ca.htm It’s a handful. This message has been edited. I've got KKM barrels in .357 SIG for my Gen 4 Glock 35 and Gen 5 Glock 23. I've reloaded a lot of .357 SIG in the last few years and have become a great fan of the round's effectiveness on furry things.

For real?![]() |
It was our issued round for 13 years. We only switched because it was not easy getting ammo in quantity. I recently got my Glock 33 back from a coworker and made myself a 33X. It's my edc. Not minority enough!

Impressive. The perp who forces his way into your house at night is in for a surprise for sure, but he won't have much time to figure out what the hell happened with that setup. Lover of the US Constitution Wile E. Coyote School of DIY Disaster
